I prefer the high traction arms... more durable and more feel on the track.. the cyclone tc arms have more tuning options.. but I have seen so many snap..

I am trying to pick up a used TC for use in a 21.5 Spec Sedan class at the LHS. I am returning to RC racing after a 20 year timeout so I don't have much current knowledge. I have found local info on Associated, Tamiya, Xray [too expensive for me] but not much on HPI. I assume the HPI cars are competitive with the previously mentioned cars but I would like to know some more about them.

Are there any advantages between the various versions of the HPI RS4? [by model, I mean Pro 2, Pro 3, Pro 4]

Are parts still available?
Do the different versions share a lot of the same parts?

How do they compare to the current HPI TC which appear to be aimed more at non-racers [I may be wrong since this is just an impression that I got when I looked at the website]?

Spares can still be had for the Pro 4 (it shares some with the Cyclone) but you'd have a hard time finding spares for any previous cars IMHO.

The Pro 2 is belt driven and a good car, better than the Pro 3 I always thought. The Pro 4 is still a competitive car but requires some fettling to keep it running well.

If anyone has any questions on the Pro 4 gimme a shout - one of mine for sale here also:

Thanks Andy. I'll add the Pro 4 to my list of cars that I am watching for on Ebay and other places. A lot has happened since I dropped out of RC racing and Internet forums for help is one of the changes for the better.

I used 64 pitch spurs when I ran this car last year, and usually settled on an 88 tooth 64P spur. This translates into a 66 tooth 48P spur, which might be hard to find but is about the size you'll need to perform well. 78 is certainly too large for 17.5 - you'll need to replace it.

gearing on the car will depend on what software you running on teh esc.
If new supercharge software you would need to gear around 6 - 6.5 and if older 110 software around 5.5 - 5.
If older software keep gearup watching lap times for a peak and not exceeding a motor temp of 65-70 deg/c max.
Unless where you race has restrictions the latest software is needed to be fairly competitive.
