The question is how much money do you have wrapped, not "how much to get started"...keep it real! This hobby is more addictive than drugs for those of us that are competitive

1/2 my house, 1/2 my cars, 1/2 my dog, and also 1/2 my R/C junk is he she leaves me . If she leaves it would definatly be over racing, so I guess I have over $100,000 invested. Or at least that's how much racing might cost in the end .

I averaged it out to about 3000 a year for 25 years, that doesn't take travel and expences into account though, so in 25 years I would say 100 grand. I still maintain I'm not hooked on the hobby. Now if you add the motorcycle racing, drag racing and other recreational toys................it gets real stupid

I would have to say my son and I are probably in the 6-7 grand area and we have only being doing this since Jan 07'.

It started out as what was supposed to be an inexpensive way for he and I to spend time together other than youth sports. Yeah right, damn Santa Clause,(4) 1/18's, 2 for carpet and 2 for dirt, (2) TC4's, (2) f103's,(1) T4,(1) Losi slider.

If you factor in the $75 a week for club racing 2-3 days a week, multiple cars. Then the "special races" we got to, 3 this month alone at around $200 a pop with travel, fees, food and parts.

I guess it is all relative to what ever your hobby is, I mean I know some guys that spend easily what we may on our "toy cars" for their fishing/hunting addictions.

I would not trade any of it though, as the commercial says "priceless". Just don't tell his mother

In 30 years, spend enough to equal a down payment for a house in California and not worry about the house loan being disapprove!

Why is this so important. If we don't spend so much money on our hobby then our hobby won't excisit! There is no money for a manufacturer to excist and no money for development of products. So why is this so importat and to be true it is a very childish question: who has the most marbles?

Yo,who got you wired for sound? This type of thread is started for comic relief, to break the monotony and open the floor for discussion...no matter what brand(s) one owns, scale they race or bash, type of fuel source they run....this is something ALL of us can sit down and discuss without rifting. Simmer down and wash the sand out of your clit.

Earlier this year I decided to sell a bunch of my on-road electric stuff, chargers, batteries, dischargers etc.
I ended up selling things for about .50 on the dollar and sold about $2500 worth of stuff.

in the past 3-4 years I would bet I have accumulated about $6,000-$8,000 worth of stuff, again most of it was sold.

This year I discovered 1/8 scale on-road and I have spent about $2500-$3000 this summer alone in equipment.

Needless to say I am hooked again, just ordered my new Novak GTB system and batteries for 1/12 scale, I will likely spend another $1500-$2000 during the winter season.

So on average I spend about $4000 per year on RC racing.
I probably spend about the same on Golf every year...

in 6 months? maybe 6-7k. but my whole family decided they wanted in on the experience.

all in all though, still probably not even 1/10th what I spent on alcohol in the 90's.
