Have you tried .5mm spacer under rear suspension block at front of car? Or maybe the 1/2 degree front arm sweep or try to go one step narrower front width, before that I'd try thinner hex drives on the front.

Great suggestions, I'll give them a shot tonight! The car almost seems like it wants to hop around the turns as I'm on throttle and exiting. I don't know if that's typical for a spool, or setup, or overdriving.

+1 on all the suggestions. Also might try less front droop (higher droop value), and lower the inner front camber link to get the front end to dump over more. For whatever reason, when I tried running front arm sweep on carpet - it made the car feel very sluggish entering corners. I think the front arm arm sweep worked a lot better on asphalt than it does on carpet.

You rear end is "hopping". Now that is just weird.

I'm driving it pretty hard and aggressive out of the turns. It actually seems more like the front than the rear.

I've noticed that when I put a spool in the front of my car too. Dialing down the dual rate/end point seemed to help me.

Spools are good and stable but man they are hard on the equipment.
Tires, axles, drive halves... theres just no give to them.
I'm going out on a limb here but i vow to make a one way or two even hook up like in the day. And umm... whatever happened to Karen Smith?

I feel like I can be just as fast with a one-way, but man, consistency is such a problem. 17.5 it's not so bad, but when you start going faster it really becomes a challenge. The trend lately seems to be spool in 13.5 and up.

It is harder on equipment, no question.

If the back end is hopping you might want to try to a different shock oil and maybe open the holes in the piston a little to try and get a better packing. I wouldn't change the spring but just adjust the dampning. I think if you where to use the 3 hole piston but increase the size of the holes it might help you out.

You could also try changing the rear wheel base, but I think the hopping is more a product of not enough dampning.

how do you get no rebound on the shocks ??

if i do it then wehn i move the shocks up and down with the top on i can hear the air inside

the smallest amount of rebound i can get is 1mm

is that a small enough amount ???

I vent mine by drilling a hole in the plastic cap, as suggested by Corey. Seems to work quite well.

To elaborate on that, you need to drill about a 1mm hole in the plastic shock cap. This will reduce the rebound to just a couple mm.

Lots of good testing tonight, thanks for the suggestions.

In the end, the thing I changed that was the magic bullet was putting the soft IFS chubs back on. The amount of steering I picked up mid-corner was phenomenal. I was never totally sold on them with a one-way, but man, they really brought the car alive with the spool.

I'm starting to kinda wish Tamiya would make some LCD-style drive shafts for the front like the Losi, XRay and now apparently, Hot Bodies.
