OMG WTF Is wrong with you guys .. since the tire was invented in ohio.. it would stand to reason we set the standard for spelling it.. sheesh.
and as for grip... the < ot the > was used as a spacer .. nothing else..
no grip.. thinner oil.... softer springs.. softer tires.. will yeild more grip.. u could change droop and roll centers would give u better results than removing a screw or cutting a brace. Im done here,, since no one is listening anyways .

I think i've got it !
We're atually talking about two different things ! Obviously if you have tires on your car, you want it as stiff as possible. However in japan and europe, we use tyres which react completely differently and require a certain amount of flex.

Ahh HA! I got you ... actually John Boyd Dunlop (1840-1921) was a Scottish veterinarian and the recognized inventor of the first practical pneumatic or inflatable tire. ... a bit of psychy goes a long way ...

Since you are actually right! I cannot understand why you guys didn't notice he was saying the exact same thing as everyone else is. Only he is talking about tires (foam that is) where the rest of us is talking about tyres (rubber...). As they would say in England: "see, sorted".

Some people don't like being proved wrong...
If you'd even bothered to read my link you'd realize that Thomson invented it way before Dunlop but Dunlop was the one who developped an industrial process to manufacture it.

See the detail you are missing here is practical... The inventor of the first PRACTICAL rubber tyre. FYI his patent application was refused because Thomson had already patented it before him.
Now as far as chassis stiffness is concerned, I don't know about you but I'd rather spend less time finding a good setup on a "soft" car than a lot more time on a "rigid" car. At the end of the day corner speed is all about getting the tyres to temperature and using the available grip provided by the tyres, which is fairly limited on most surfaces.
