I'm not sure if it'll be a good idea. It's only a good idea if they use a different ball stud than what's in the kit. The only ball stud that is affected is the one you show. There is a short version of that ball stud that matches the hex head ball stud screw thing-a-majaber's height. If you are worried about strength, go for the steel hex heads. Just curious, but why are you using the ball nuts instead of the hex heads?

I still use the hex head too for inner if I use 3mm shim.

any comments on why Tamiya would be releasing a 2,5mm chassis when the 2,25mm has shown so great result on indoor carpet/rubber?

I race the 416 on asphalt and I noticed since the first time I put the car on the track that it has too much flex. Releasing a 2.5mm chassis is a very good move and I will convert as soon as it's out!! A 2.5mm chassis will stay flatter and not lean like this 2.25 is. Don't get me wrong, this car is absolutely on point, but this will make the car even better.
Also, since I don't post much on this thread, I wanted to mention how good this diff is. I've run a 4.5 and a 10.5 in this car and the diff holds up to all conditions. It doesen't back off or get gritty at all. It's undeniably smooth and takes off out of the corners like a sling shot. Best diff on the market period.

The 2.5 chassis is good on higher bite carpet, but i have found the flex of the 2.25 helps in low grip or on asphalt. Last year at reedy i used a 2mm and it was great! I have actually used black rubber o-rings under my upper deck to get the car to flex more at my local track. It was a little more "loppy" but very consistent and provided great traction. Keep in mind this was only for low grip situations, such as the begining of a night racing or new carpet. I had even noticed in one of the pics from the last event Viktor had removed the steering post brace to get a little more flex out of the car.

The Team Orion 4800 Li-Po pack weighs 258g, versus 401 g for NiMH 7.2 volt assembled cells. This is 36% lighter!
The 3200 weight even less at 198g, this is less then half the wieght of a 4200mAh Ni-MH stick pack yet provides the same run time!

Personally, I would go for a Orion 3600 or Schumacher Core 5000 pack over the 4800... the 4800 is a little bit of old tech now (if it can be called that ), and the 36 and Core5000 have much more punch.
