I believe its just a touch to wide, seems to load the the bearings a lot. The spool cups will work with the 416 but you have to shorten the aluminum sleeves slightly to make them work.

TRF416 Experimental chassis assembled last night, inspired by the Yokomo BD5 World Spec.

Lower deck
- very narrow @ 85mm
- cutouts and outer edges shaped for flex (and looks )
- cutouts for ballast under battery (alternatively for bumps in lipo case)
- using same (416X front) bulkheads front & rear
- belts flipped and servo moved in

Standard 416X upper deck can be used. Alternative upper deck for more (rear) flex.

More will follow @ http://kentech.blogs.se later.

Nice chassis! Anyone know where Marc and Victor's setup from the Reedy Race will be available?

Default Reedy 2010

Finally recovered from the Reedy Race.

Pics from Reedy of Victors Car.

Tamiya japan has finally admitted that Lipos exist.

The lipo specific chassis that Marc, Victor and Thomas Prumpler were running were definitly Tamiya based. Marc said some of the chassis were different and will probably not represent the real thing since they are still testing different thicknesses, cutouts etc. Victor had about 3 fully built chassis on his table with minor differences between each.

Notice that the motor bulkhead is spaced up about 1mm.

My conversation with Marc:
Me: "why is the motor bulkhead spaced up 1 mm?"
Marc: "I dunno...Kiyo did it"
Me: "What oil are you running?"
Marc: "I dunno, Kiyo built it"
Me: "What springs are you running?"
Marc: "Oh, I know- HPI Silver!!"

Another trick part was a TOP gear diff that looked very tiny, very light and very slick. It stole it from EJ and it would take very little to make it fit a 416.

The race was awesome. I wish I had more time to dial in my car. I
Tim Potter - glad to finally meet you! Thanks for coming out.

Edit: Err, nevermind. I see they raised the motor part and then shimmed the bulkheads to match. Maybe they were poking fun at Josh's car.

I wonder why would they spaced up the motor bulkhead by 1mm? Better rotation? How about the diff pulley then, is it spaced up too?

kentech - wow, who makes that chassis? That's definitly not what TRF was running.

The motor still sticks out a bit even in the X chassis. I wish they would move it in some more in the next version.

There's already one offered for the 416 from some aftermarket company. They also make one for the Xray as well. Looks trick. Wish they made one for the Cyclone
