1) The 'L' shape weight (front) will touch the front steering post if you set the batt at the most inward position. So you can only use middle and outer position.

2) There are 2 positions for the batt Forward like 416WE and Rear 416X.....again the 'L' shape weight only allow you to use the rear position coz the steering system will touch the 'L' weight when putting left steering (you can't get full left steering)

3) I haven't weight my car yet but when I tried to balance it, its too heavy at the batt side. I wish Exotek would make the 'L' shape weight in thin pieces ie 5-10grams each so I can just add or remove it accordingly.

Other than that I think I m happy with the quality of this Exotek 416XL chassis and hope it will handle better than the ori one.
1. I grinded about 1mm off the end where it hits the posts. Had to do the same to the graphite tape holder too. I don't use 100% steering, but that's besides the point.

2. Even with all the grinding, you can't use the forward batt position.

3. The reason why I used the inner most batt position is that the car just balanced better there. the 60g weight that the L shaped holders give is a bit much. I think the car handles better with the weight as close to the center line as possible.

No.... everything looks good and I superglued the edges though the instruction said no to do it.

Hi Dameetz,

I have new 25% lighter weights coming in later this week. PM me if you want to switch to these

This might seem like a silly question, but what problem are you trying to solve by moving to these other chassis (Exotek, smokem, etc...)?

I have a 416WE and a 416X and not sure what I am missing. The cars seem to work pretty well with the stock chassis' on them. Why anyone would move away from the quality of Tamiya is beyond me. LIPO's fit in my car great...just a little bracket (Which took about 1 minute to build) for the neg. battery connector and battery works just great.

What am I missing?

Try to use LRP 5900 or Intellect 5600 and you see one problem of stock chassis

I found the Exotek chassis much too stuck on medium-grip carpet. The car was very planted, and I struggled to free it up. Lap times suffered as a result. I put the 2.5mm chassis on from the original car and it was much quicker. I'm not sure the 2mm is the right choice for carpet.

That said, with the belts flipped and the car properly balanced, I definitely felt like the handling characteristics were improved.

All in all, I'm VERY glad to see companies like Exotek support Tamiya, and I hope they continue to do so. This is the chassis I would run outside or in lower traction for sure. For higher grip, I'd have liked something closer to the stock thickness, or even 2.5 to try out.

This is my latest smokem chassis with a custom lipo guard and it balance the car pretty well. Actually it's a demon lipo tray which I customized to fit the Smokem chassis.

Hi artwork, can you show a picture of your lipo setup? interested to see how you secure it.

What problem do you have w/ the intellect 5600? Just curious, as im looking at getting some. I currently have the IP 5000 30Cs, and they fit fine, and the case should be the same size since they are both ROAR legal..

ROAR approval doesn't mean the cases are the same size. 5600mAh's are bigger than 5000s, and the intellect 5600s do clear the top deck but only by the width of a piece of paper. Best to stick with the 5000's IMO

8.3.2.3.3 The maximum 2s 7.4v brick/stick case::
Length: 139mm
Width: 47mm
Height: 25.1mm

From the ROAR rulebook. It wouldnt make sense to have a smaller case than that, since that would mean less performance from the pack.
