I've got a quick question: Do all Lipo's (from the EFRA-list/race legal) fit the std TRF416?
Thanks, Victor

Depends if you have your lipo offset or not. Some are too high to fit in original position, but can be used if you run the batt offset...

I have a similar question, do all Lipo's fit the 416X in the standard position or do you need to trim material off?

Also in Jilles setup vid he uses ni-cads(?), do they still race with cells?

thanks

Yes they do. The X chassis plate is basically the same as the original (not WE) plate with the cell position... bar the extra holes drilled for the front bulkheads, and an extra 1mm of machining under the motor for the motor being moved in.

I think almost all should fit... however on some you will struggle to fit the power connectors, especially if they are corally plugs, and the top surface of the pack is flat.

Oh, for those who are interested, the desgin of the lipo chassis plate is finished, just waiting on a quote for the machining, before I can let everyone know a price... might be a little while yet

Regards
Ed

Look at his set up from snowbirds he shifts the battery out 5mm and put his weight in the center of the chassis. You do not have to trim anything if you use Thunder Power Lipos.

the new orion carbon molecular 5400 thickness is almost (exactly) the same as the distance between the lower and top deck of 416X, hence if you use the tube version, it won't fit with the connectors plugged in, if you use the deans version it will fit but i'd raise the upperdeck around 0.5-1mm as the upper deck may rub the lipo if the car flexes.

however, the above problems will not occur if you run the lipo offset (outward).

as for me i use IP5000 lipo and has no problem.

hope this helps

do you know if the belt will work if you change to the 36 tooth diffs as well as the 18 tooth center pulley (because the 415 belt barely fits with the 36t diff and 16t center pulley)?

The 415's that came with 36T pullies, starting with the original MRE, had longer belts than the previous cars. With the MRE belts, your diffs would be set further out from the center mark by a 2 or 3 notches. If you used the old belts, or white low friction belts with 36T/16T combo, your diffs would be set inward from center by 3 or 4 notches.

In the 416, the motor is moved back a bit. This means the front belt is even longer and the rear is even shorter. It's worth a try if you have the belts laying around. But I wouldn't spend extra money just in case they don't fit...

Default Belt position and lipo tray

I need two informations:

- I would like to have some advises on lipo tray for the 416X, I am going to race on the stock class and the weight here have being reduced to 1350grs so we do no need to add much weight on the car, so I am looking for a tray that I can mount the battery with some safety. The packs I am going to use are the IP 5000 50C and they do not have the "bumps" to "fix" on the chassis.

- Can I swap the position of the belt on the car? By doing that I can move the electronics more to the centre of the car and maybe get a better balance on it so if possible and some of the guys have done that please give some advise.

Just do what Jilles does...He doesn't use a tray nor swap the belt position and gets good balance. See link below.
