Default I considering a Tamiya for the first time?

How is the build quality of the 416X as compared to Xray? From a design stand point the 416 makes the most sense to me, but how does it handle?

The Tamiya cars are great cars and perform very well. Build quality is second to none. I drove for Xray Canada for 3 years so I know those cars well. the difference between the 416 and my 009 was conrner speed. The 416 has more and just feels smoother. Better overall chassis balance too. I was just more comfortable with Tamiya but I think thats driver a preference thing too.

to be honest I've got both xray and tamiya ,xray build quality is the highest in the market ,needs no shimming nothing...
perfect fit and so strong compare to rest...
but I've tried 416 last week on track with top deck cut feels better and faster than 008/009...

For some odd reason, I was told that the US will get theirs a week after the Japan release. Unless you have it over nighted, you probably won't see yours until next year.

On the X the chassis appears to be of a slightly different carbon fibre material compared to the WE. Would say it is slightly stiffer.

Precision of dampers seems to have been improved once again also. As on many other parts as well. This based on building 2 cars.

Yes, the CF does look different. The WE had a matte finish, but the X has a mirror like finish to it (unless you actually buffed it out)

Tamiya did make a change to a different CF with the 416 series. I wonder if they reverted back to the older ones which I think was better.

In any case, the first things that are going out are the front alum dog bones and the alum steering turnbuckles. The low friction TRF shock parts are on order too. Those are rather hard to get...

I guess the US delay is ok in a sense. You guys will figure out a good base setup by the time we get ours.

@kentech : amazing pics on your blog, can't wait to get mine, should arrive next week.

btw, any idea what are the extra screw holes on the chassis (in front of the rear front bulkhead screw attachment) for?

You should try to post the same question on XRAY thread and you will get the reverse answers.
I want to ask that question as well as I am getting EP car. Either 416-X or T3.

Yeh thanks for the great pics kentech. Can't wait to we get my hands on the real thing.

dodo, I'm pretty sure the holes are for the 416(WE) bulkheads. So it's another possible tuning option and should also mean the 416X chassis can be used as a replacement for the earlier cars.

And yes, the extra holes are for the original 416 (and WE) bulkheads which were shorter. Will need to test them, at least on asphalt...

Default Can you flip the belts on a 416X for better lipo balance?

The 416 looks great, everything I envisioned, but my only grip is why do they still mount the servo the long way? For some reason I hate that unb sticking off the chassis. I think it's time to try a Tamiya.

well it is a sad day

the TRF416 World Edition is sold

hopefully off to an owner who will enjoy it as much as i did

unfortunatly i am not replacing it with another TRF

i have fallen for the Xray T3 , no wear and there is 7 nore of them in my club , so set up and parts

i do love Tamiya but i cannot resist the orange perils
