Maybe they're doing it Nintendo Wii style!

I hear yah, it's weird how there seems to be these shortages from time to time. I think they're usually a sign of something new in the works.

I don't think there'll be a new version of the 416 for a little while still, this is quite normal for Tamiya since none of the TRF cars have ever had ongoing production runs they just produce as many as they think the market needs every couple of months.

The Evo V was hard to get for a while but now it seems they have produced more. Im sure the same will happen with the 416

those TRF low friction O rings are very hard to get. I ordered the shock rebuild kit that comes with new guides and o-rings. I will compare those o-rings to the P3 (3mm) o rings from HPI.

How's that shaft drive in 17.5 theory working out? You gonna hit IIC this year?

I can't say I'm any faster then I am with a belt car. I will know better this weekend when I start racing outside. Im better outside then I am on the rug. It took me a few weeks to get things sorted out. I either got a bad batch of thread-lock or it doesn't mix well with the alloys Tamiya uses b/c I seemed to be losing all kinds of screws which kept messing with my setup. I think I got all the bugs worked out now.

I'd love to run the IIC sometime but not sure it will be this year. I will likely do one of the major races though but probably indoor champs or halloween classic.

Instructions on the bottle suggest you may have oil in the screws themselves.
Try cleaning them with some motor spray first .

The o-rings in your rebuild kit should be the same o-rings as the P3 from HPI I'm guessing. One thing I've noticed about the low friction ones is that they seem to outlast any other low friction o-ring I've tried in the past. I have had them on for about 6 or 7 track days now, and still don't have any leaking. Normally with a low friction o-ring I get leaking after the first day.

Is that with or with-out the Shock Boots?

Does anyone have a problem with the 1510 outdrive bearings seizing? I've had two go bad, and one was ceramic! Is there anything I can do to prevent this?

good to know. I think it was the threadlock though. It wasn't the same shade of blue as all the others I've used. I switched to a different bottle and its been good so far. If it comes back I will definately try the motorspray.

Thanks!

Rod - instead of wishing us luck, how about you come out of retirement? I come out of retirement once a year to do the Reedy Race. You've got some skillz. It will only take you a battery pack or two to be back on pace.

The 1510 bearing is not really loaded hard at all. Mine last a very long time. I think you are just unlucky. The 5x9 bearings on the older 415 on the otherhand suck.

Shaft vs belt. A long time ago I kept testing back to back an Evo4 vs 415 with an underpowered 19T or 23T motor. The Evo4 always "felt" faster and seemed to accelerate harder, but the lap times between the two were always the same. I always just ended up confused.

It also says to shake well before using ... If it's been sitting around for a while .
