Q's : Why would I need the built in toe? Where i can just put different suspension block to get a desire toe in? Is there any different handling characteristic with the built in toe upright?

Is that made up of metal? I thought metal outdrive will make the chattering worse and will wear the CVD pins faster. Anyhow this will make some of the guys here happy with that news.

As far as the toe on the arm as opposed to the toe on the upright...

I believe the difference is that when you have toe on the upright, the toe actually changes as the suspension goes thorugh it's stroke.

You mean like progressive toe? Does it increase or decrease the toe during up stroke?

There is a slight physical difference, though in practice I'm sure it's negligible..

As you change the suspension blocks for more toe-in, the wheelbase decreases ever so slightly from the back since you're angling the arms forward to rotate those wheels inwards.

I've never heard of people changing the uprights for toe adjustment, and most people have spare suspension blocks these days to set any toe they want.. at this point I think it's just a preference to start off with. I'd rather change one little block rather than swap out axles, bearings and wheel hexes between uprights..

My understanding is that inboard and outboard toe changes affect the car in different ways, and can be used as a tuning option. Here's how Paul Lemieux described it: Around The Table With Paul Lemieux(RC-America/Thunderpower)

in a crash.. if the spool cup is aluminum... won't that just transfer the impact somewhere else? like the universal? so instead of breaking a spool cup... you break the uni?

why not just make some delrin ones... sell them 4 to a package..and make a killing that way.

i bet the alum ones will create more chatter too

I don't own this car, but if I did and had the problem I would definately look into building a slipper spool. Just get a front diff and replace the diff balls with Traxxas slipper plugs. Definately cuts down on the damage as the only part that gives is those plugs on the diff ring.

That's an interesting find. Have you ever actually tested them in this application?

You sure are lurking in the 416 thread a lot! Is there one if your future, or did you find that EVO 5 MS? My 416 is taking a break while I have fun with the TA05.

Yeah, bunch of us used those plugs in our TA05's. Works very well. (the tc5 also uses something similar in their new spool but its pads rather then the plugs). Worked out great for the TA05 b/c it comes with two diffs so we didn't need to buy anything more.

I assume those plugs are not TCS legal so save your real spools for that if you plan to do TCS.

Got the EVO V MS on order from Ampdraw. They are waiting for it to arrive though. Hopefully I get it next week. Same suspension so I lurk.
