I race my Evo5 also in 23T and 17T Race Classes, and i dont think that i have a disadvantage with this car.
The start performance of my evo5 is awesome. For usual i overtake 1 car before the first corner (if its a beltdriveone). And the famous tourque steer is no problem with tih motors.

Its designed for Stock racing (23T). The 415 and 416 are designed for modified. Dont forget that.

Greetings blueman

As i know in Japan if go to 23T mainly will use belt drive cars.
My friend told me generally the TB5 design it's most evoluted, but the huge weak point, you must to remove all rear part of car to change spur gear that will spend all the time.
I don't remember why did he say TB3 is the best, maybe only in 540 stock race.

This is in Austria the same. i think we are only 3 racers wich run a Evo5. The rest is also racing beltdirves. But i think its because that all manufractors sell only top end beltcars. (Xray, HB, Tamiya,.....)

For me is the Evo5 a fine ride. My tarmac and carpet setup, works very well, and the only weakpoint in the package is me ;-)

But maybe i also swap to a 416 in a year, because it looks dam good.

Greetings from Austria,

Blueman

Will you race stock race with TRF416?
It's really worthy, due it's designed to race only in Modified race and specially in BL system?

Hi Mac, I don't think Tamiya would be so short sighted as to design the TRF416 as a brushless/mod only chassis, I think rather that the TRF416 is optimized for brushless/mod but that doesn't mean it will be a bad car for use in any other class

I agree that this car is not specifically designed for BL only. The main thing that's going to benefit the BL class racer (especially 10.5 and 13.5) is the lowered internal ratio. The car is equiped with 18t center and 37t diff pullys. This lowers the internal gear ratio to 2.05 from 2.25 (compared to TA05 series, not sure what it is for the 415) allowing you to run lower final drive ratios.

Not sure why they went to a 37t pully? My thought is Tamiya may take a cue from the guys running the modified 16 ball diffs and make it standard option on the 416.

Cyclone is running with 39T diff and 16T center pulley.
And rumoured to releasing 20T center pulley for 23T stock race.

I think if we only race in stock class 415 is already enough good, we don't need to have newer car, due that 416 it's only benefit in modified and less traction surface.
But of course that it's just my opinion, we have to see more in further moments.

Its like you said. The main field for the 416 is BL Modified, but i think the car perform also well in all slower classes. 17T is also pretty fast, and the new "more flex" layout sounds also good.

In my stock series nobody races TA05`s or cyclone s style chassis. All guys run the top end chassis like HB,Xray,Robitronic,TOP, ....., wich is for sure not necessary to win. I am always surprised how good my old TB02 performs.

The main point is that this kits came already with all parts included. Drive shafts, Alu Dampers, and so on.

I race my Evo5 for the upcoming winter and also the next summer season. and then we will see what Tamiya has in stock for me. A new Evo6, or the new 416XYZ, or i stuck with my lovely 5er.....

Lets see. But it will definitly be a blue one.

Greetings Blueman

I know, but we have to look there's 2 japanese national races, the Sportsman class was beginning from 19 to 21, so first to see these 2 nationals then take note and make decision so further.

My choice list:
TRF416: if it's also good for stock race
S400:too much heavy, specially on drive train, less option parts, not really fit to race on stock and no limit weight race
Xray t2008: like S400
Kyosho TF5 shin: i never seen people drive this car before in my town, no parts
Robitronic: like TF5
Yok BDM: not very popular, maybe will be replaced with newer version after JMRCA expert race
Cyclone: like BDM, waiting for Cyclone2
Top Scythe: i never seen japanese team drivers with this car to race, maybe 2008 will have a revolution one
