We had 15 F1 cars at yesterday's Castle race. Turnout, in general, seemed light for all classes. I'm sure this is because of the recent tragedies. Castle Classic is this weekend!

C'mon guys! Bring out those F1 cars this weekend! Dust 'em off! The surface will be brand new this weekend. Should be a fun one.

rc-zombies

It was a hack-fest at Castle yesterday for me. I got piled into hard and then dumped into the boards. Broke my rear wing and the lower front suspension arm. Thank goodness Tower has a Reno distribution center!

Cross parts for the F1 are very hard to get... may not be imported to the US anymore. I have 3 sitting on my shelf... #1 I race with fully hopped up... #2 assembled. for back-up... #3 car use it for spare parts.

I have my car fully hopped up. I have the Graphite chassic, graphite rear pod, aluminum front / rear bulkheads, alum. cam.
alum. post, hardened axle., alum. diff hubs., alum. rear motor mount and left pod. stiff front shock springs. HPI shocks for rear pod.

The whole upper front arm has been modified with Ti turnbuckles.
The plastic upper arms bend easy and that changes the caster and camber. With the turnbuckles easy to adjust caster and camber settings.

The stock tires work fine... but I would get Tamiya foams instead.
med. compounds in front and soft in rears. The car has alot of push. you'll need very stiff springs in front. 10L/12L front springs will fit also.

Sorry don't have any pics to show you... If I did you can see all the modification done to get it to handle right.

for complete list of hop-ups see: http://www.rc-cross.com/page/frame.html
You can probably still get these from Japan or Hong Kong hobbies shops.

I've also owned the Yamiya F1 cars too. If I had a choice before I bought the Cross F1.. I would of tried to get the Keil F1. uses Associated 10L/12L parts, or even the Corally F1 from UK. I have a friend that goes to UK once or twice a year... I'm going to get the Keil F1. Hope this helps...let me know if you need any other info on the Cross.

Now I can drive the car alittle harder and not worry about spare parts... The cross F1 body is ok...for almost the same price you can get the Tamiya bodies, the F type looks great. Tamiya bodies are a direct fit. you just have to make the cutouts for the front arms.HotBodies also make good looking bodies. see: www.hotbodiesonline.com
Protoform had bodies don't know if they're still making them.

Hey ya'll...damn that sounds Texan doesnt it, but seriously, i moved from Indiana to Texas and 20 years later they decide to have F-1 at Indy...they shoulda let me know this before i moved.I wish the F-1/R/C racing was as big as it use to be.At the Tamiya races we had in in the Dallas area we would have 30+ F-1 cars.I have a Tamiya f-103, Lotus body painted up like a Ferrari ,pretty much std. parts but i made my own rear pod plates so i could use assoc axle and Jaco tyres, i also reamed out the front pins to alllow the use of assoc blocks and again Jaco tyres.I love these cars, since there is no more F-1 racing in this area, my son and i slap some Big "J"s and 4cell packs and go have a blast.Easily 10+ minutes run time.We dont go 100mph but, you've gotta stay clean. Some new F-1 bodies would be nice..as far as LMP type bodies, somebody give me a Caddillac, that would be sweet.Well, enough rambling, check ya'll later.
