TFR

On my rs car, I have the height adjustable rear pod, the multilink front suspension and F1 spring set. I put the FRP top deck on it, the graphite damper plate and the graphite rear axle. Oh, and the high torque servo saver and full bearings. Basically, I should have bought the rx kit. I run either a Reedy MVP on open, flowing tracks or a P2K on tight tracks. I converted to 48 pitch because of better availability of pinion gears. Kimbrough makes a 75T spurgear that fits perfectly. I think that's it. I run the 2000 Ferrari hi-nose body on that car and the 97 Tora Takagi Reynard body on the trf car. Both cars run foams. The only changes I've made for the trf car is to convert it to 48 pitch gears, cf rear axle and the F-type graphite chassis.

I prefer the graphite rear axle to the ti one. I bent the one that came with my trf car and didn't realize it until I spent some time looking at why the backend was so loose. I'd rather just snap the axle and know. Plus it's lighter. It has been really tough. I run that on my trf car too. I've dumped hard into the boards with the cf axle and it hasn't broken. If you run on rougher tracks, I'm told the steel axle is better because you get a little less acceleration and are less likely to break it loose. Another think I found that's pretty cool is the Kose fiberglass antenna mast. I bought one for the trf car because the Reynard body requires the side antenna mount. The mast is really lightweight and keeps the top of the body from getting destroyed when you launch the car and it ends up on it's lid. It looks like it would fit the rs as well, but I haven't tried it

Default F103 LM TRF

Hi ,
I just bought a brand new ,never ran F103 LM TRF kit with a new body for $200 from ebay. After I bought the car( still waiting for the package), I am a bit regret for buying the car since I just bought a HPI micro car kit. I thought I might have too many r/c cars, so I post a message here for sale .
Ok, the question is , is this kit really fun to drive? how does it compare to other pan car like team associated RC10? should I keep the car? I personally really like to have a pan car, but wonder if the F103 LM TRF is the one I should keep. Can i convert the F103 LM TRF kit to F1 ? I know I need a body, but what about the chassis? Does the F1 body fit the LM chassis?
Please advice, thanks.

HUmmmm so you are the one who won the acution. I was bidding on that kit too. But it's already assembled. I'm kinda happy that you won the auction. I really want a NIB F103LM TRF. Not an assembled one.

it's a Leman chassis. It can not be fitted into F-1's body. It's very much a different chassis.

Get a F103RX if you want a almost race ready F1 chassis from Tamiya.

Hey, have fun with that kit. Wish there is another acution for the F103LM TRF soon. There was one auction for the NIB F103LM TRF about a month a go. I didn't bid on it....... What a mistake....

The part# for the F-type chassis is 53168. With this chassis, you can run F1 bodies. I'd try it out with a GTP body, though. It's very fun to drive with a high downforce body, as it's nearly impossible to break loose on a prepared surface.

How do you fit a 48P spur to the car? Do you need an adpator?

domj

Kimbrough makes a 48 pitch,75 tooth spurgear specifically for the Tamiya and other F1 cars. Sorry, I don't have their part#, but it says on the label that it is for F1 cars. I'd be surprised if your lhs doesn't have them. It is shaped exactly like the stock gear, so the stock bearing or bushing will fit, etc.

psycho, why have a 75T spur?

what i use it....for outdoor 93T spur with 23T-35T pinion

and indoor carpet 93T spur with 20T-22T pinion....

i think it works well....

how about your gear selection for different tracks?

Thanks for the info. Will go and look around for one. I just got a 2nd hand F103RS. It came with full bearings and the 0.4 pitch gears. I'm running Ride grooved tires. They look really cool and work well.
