Pete- Yes that spur is 64 pitch compatible. Start with a 23 and depending on how tight the track is you may be able to go up to a 28 with newish rear tires (tall ones). Biggest issue will be motor temp. If it comes off the track higher than 180 at the comm, back it off a tooth or two.

Thanks Doc, that's exactly what I needed. I'm going to order 23, 25, and 27 for starters. There's one regular race weekend before the big race I'm preparing for so I'll get to try everything out, check temps, and adjust as needed.

Any other setup tips for this thing? I'm a bit out of my element with a pan chassis. I have the front spring kit on the way. I'm also going to try out the TRG rubber tires just for fun. Can I replace the friction damper with a regular plastic CVA shock that used to be on my TA05 before I upgraded? What spring/piston/oil?

The black springs may make it easier to drive, or at least less reactive, depending on the surface. You can also dribble a few drops of heavy shock oil (100+) on the kingpins to slow down the action if it's bouncy up front. Yes, you can use the shock off of your TA05, start with the yellow spring and preload so the t-bar is flat when the car is fullyloaded, viewed from the side. Oil somewhere in the middle range, 2-hole piston. You may find the biggest tuning changes come from SLIGHTLY altering the front and rear t-bar mounting screws (please note caps above). A little in or a little out can make a big difference.

All the info can be found on the last few pages of this thread:

http://www.rctech.net/forum/racing-f...unners-74.html

The handout motor for the F1 class is a pro-built 27T stock motor, and it is fast! Gear accordingly.

This is from Steve B.
Just for clarification..... At the BFTR II, Mini Cooper, F1 and Vintage classes will be running stock silver can motors provided by the Roadrunners.

Cal,
Yep, Steve got to me in another thread with that info. News to me (regarding F1), but he says Giti knows. Would have been nice to know before spending all that time figuring out the pink motor gearing and all. I take it by the you didn't know either...

I just built my F103GT Advan Courage. I have a few questions.

1. Is the kit supposed to come with a foam bumper?

2. How do I mount the Courage body? The rear body post setup is so weird. What posts do I use for the front?

Pictures would be great.

The kit does not come with a foam bumper... as far as I can remember it would not fit with the Courage body... Tamiya does make one I believe for other bodies... I'm looking at my chassis and the rear posts are mounted to the rear upper deck... hope this helps...

Anyone in the Chicago / NE Illinois / SE Wisconsin area we're racing F1 on Sunday's @ The Track at Harbor Hobbies in Winthrop Harbor IL. The more the merrier.

Here's a link to the store, and there's an RC tech thread as well.

http://www.harbor-hobby.net

If you have any questions you can PM me or call Eric (track owner) at the store.

there is a paper manual separately from the big one, all you need to mount the body is included... the foam bumper is not for courage...you have to built one yourself or run without it /as i did/
