I don't understand. Is this what you are saying:

F103 Diff - Ride Tires - Ride Rims - okay
F103 Diff - Shimizu Tires - Ride Rims - NOT okay
F104 Diff - Shimizu Tires - Ride Rims - okay

??

Thanks,

The Lotus 99T body came on an F103 chassis so it is guaranteed to fit an F103, but might be a bit short for an F104. The wing mount are the K parts, part number 19114019. The parts listed above included the body, front and rear wings and the rear wing mount. It did not include the sticker set which is part number 19498069.
If you can't get the Tamiya wing mount, there is also the TRG rear wing stay set.

The diff is irrelevant, externally the F103 and F104 diffs are identical, with identical widths and identical wheel fitment. The McLaren and Ferrari F104 cars even come with the F103 diff fitted.

If you want to run F103 Ride tyres, they are made to fit Ride rims.
If you want to run F103 Shimizu tyres, they are made to fit F103 normal foam wheels.

Both wheels fit F103 and F104 diffs and if you try to stretch a Shimizu tyre on to an F103 wheel whether it is on an F103 or f104 axle will make no difference as the axle can't change the wheel shape.

Now you can fit the Ride tyre on to an F103 foam wheel, but they are designed to fit into a rubber tyre wheel not sit on a flat surface like the foam wheel. So the tyre sidewall isn't supported unless you make up some rings to go into the step in the tyre.

To convert to an F103GT means replacing the front arms, front uprights, front axles, front bumper, chassis, rear diff parts, body mounts and spacers under the rear pod and front suspension. If you download the manual here http://www.tamiya.com/japan/download/rcmanual/58367.pdf you can see what parts need to be changed and it will give you all the part numbers.

Excellent info and very clear; couldn't imagine how the diff mattered.

Thanks,

Does anybody know the difference between the 53169 t bar and the 50505 t bar? I see both advertised but don't know the technical difference between the two different part numbers.

50505 is stock T-bar and the 53169 is the soft optional T-bar.
53169 gives more rear grip.

regards Roy

Default Ride Tires

Aside from Ride 103 rims/wheels, what other brand of rims will fit Ride 103 grooved rubber tires (type A) for the front and rear? TIA.

TRG2203 for rear. TRG2105 for front, TRG rims are better quality than ride.

In about 1995 a friend found a deal ($89) on the Tamiya F103 Ferrari 412T1 kit, so we each got two. I built one as Berger's 1994 car and he did Alesi. We raced and bashed for several years and kept the extra cars for spares. Then I moved and the car sat till the grandkids came along. Even their bashing didn't require many spare parts, so they lobbied for me to build the second car:

Now the 7-yr-old and 8-yr-old each have a car to run:

The one part that I have had some trouble with is the plastic motor mount, so I ordered a 3racing aluminum one with a fan (the motors - stock 27 turn - get very hot with continual kid bashing). My question is:

Where should I attach the fan wires? Even more important, where should I NOT attach the fan wires? I assume they should be attached to the leads from the battery to the ESC (I use old style - and cheap - 7.2v 1800 mah NiCad stick packs).

Here is the chassis:

Thanks for your help.
