gearchrt.com gearchart creator, now from your mobile device

Just finished up a gearchart creator that *should* work from most "modern" mobile devices, admitedly I've only tested it on the 3 phones here at our house, LG C2000, Samsing A707, and Treo 650.

Feel free to try out and post here your findings, I did a little "cliff notes" page on it, basically all you should need to do is go to http://www.gearchart.com ...it should detect you're hitting the site from a mobile device and hit the mobile chart creator.

Here's the cliff notes http://www.gearchart.com/gc_mobile.html

Hey, do you guys get the car drop down on a blackberry? ...just curious, I get it on my Treo, but not on my wife's Samsung A707 or my son's LG C2000

The code is supposed to detect if your device can handle javascript and if so render the drop down so it fills in the transmission ratio for you (like the "full size" gearchart.com chart creator).

Yes... I have to scroll onto it and then click to change option... I can't remember my blackberry model, I have the small one...

Kewl ...good to know, you can just skip over that if you want and input your transmission ratio, all that is really doing is "prefilling" the transmissino ratio with the value in the database for that particular car ...I know with mine (xray) I have to scroll clear down to teh bottom, easier just to input it ;)

So this is strictly for blackberry/PDA type phones?

HarshGuy 08-17-2007 07:34 AM

If you have internet access and some kind of browser ...it *should* work. This is kind of a "byproduct" of a lot of client work I have been doing with mobile devices ...it's all in XHTML, so as long as your phone can handle XHTML you should be good ...try it and let me know :-)
