Yup, that's what I did as well. I put the set screw in my wrench and just moved it back and forth on a piece of sandpaper flat on a table until it became flush with the outside of the pinion.

for the truely talented, you can use xray part number 901302 on metric threaded pinions(ie ti racing) or you can thread the grub screw in backwards with locktite. grind down about 0.5 mm(my robinson pinions thats about all it took) and the heat from the grinding should free it up a bit and just take it back out by hand. if needed heat the thread locking compound with a lighter..
for the truely brave(i did this while i as mad) super glue your pinon grub screw to the allen tool and grind the non hex side... btw, dont degrease the screw or the tool lol..
