In all likelihood it's not a totally new car. You'll probably be able to upgrade the T2 or 007 to the new model but all full kits will be the 008 model. You'll still be able to get parts for all the older models too.

Hardly a money grab. Just smart business. They want to sell kits and making improvements is just about the best way to do it. You can't sell the same product for the same price for too long in a competitive market. You have to improve the product or reduce the price. Seems to me they're offering a top notch product at a competitive market price. There's also no rule that says you have to run the 008 model from now on. Plenty of local guys still kick ass with one of the T1 models.

It will likely be one of 2 or 3 options I would guess.

Here you assume it will be totally new. Its still a T2, just the 008 model year.

Getting a TC5 should be much safer than those TRF415s, TA05s and even T2s (or T3s now...) as Associated are known to be slow and steady.

It take donkeys years for them to finally release a 4WD buggy...

Wasn't there a brand that released 2 cars like every year, they would be still around if they didn't go bankrupt, but the only reason X-Ray won't go banrupt is because they have the income of the other cars they produce and the fact that they have a massive following!

This is the reason i'm steering clear of X-Ray touring cars.

I will get one just because it would be cheaper to buy a new car then replace everything on my oldest T2.

I can't believe that people are still whining about XRAY releasing a new car each year.

They have been doing it since day one! Why should 2008 be any different?

Here is a tip - but the '008 as soon as it comes out if you want one, don't buy one in late 2008 unless you get a good discount because I guarantee there will be an '009 out in time for Christmas.

It is just like pushbikes - they all bring out new year versions in September, even if it is just a colour change or one equipment upgrade. It is just a fact of the market. You'd be a fool to pay full price for a pushbike during the summer as it will be discounted and outdated by September.

I don't think its so much that they came out with a new car, as it is the expense of bringing it up to the latest specs.

If the upgrade were say $125-150, I think it would be more palatable than $200 plus. What do you guys think?

I dont see the problem, if you have the money for a new car spend it on one, if you dont race what you have

Is the new car going to make you much faster than your exisiting 007? Or are you just upset the car will be shown up against a "new looking" 008, pit tart

I've spent half my life r/c racing... and the other half wishing I had started it earlier :D

If you're not having fun whilst racing, you're not racing!

That makes sense!

But I'd rather bitch and moan about how horrible xray is for being innovative.... it's way more fulfilling!!!

How is it that every xray thread is a bash session? I will own one, not because I will be faster, but I simply enjoy the finer things in life. Hell, I will preorder one as well.
