An interesting project...
Hello all you fellow Losi people. I have an intersting project that I would like to try.
Associated has a Rally Car conversion kit for the TC3. I was wondering if we could come up with something for the XXX-S. Maybe borrow some parts from the XXX-4 and XXX-T.
The basic parts that associated has in the kit is:
1. Longer arms front and rear (200 mm wide wheel base)
2. Longer turnbuckles
3. Longer dogbones (to accomodate the longer arms)
4. Different shock shafts and longer springs.
5. A new shock tower and front bumper (which I dont think we'd need)
Let me know your thoughts on this, I'm going to take measurements and goof around with shocks, I'm also going to see if I can make a cover for the internals to keep rocks and dirt out.

Okay....
Thanks for the imput.
Anyway, I now have an extra chassis that I can devote to making a rally car.
what I have come up with for the shocks is this, use the long shock shafts front and rear, run the adjusment all the way down to raise the ride height, and use 30 wt oil.
Next problem is protecting the internals from rocks and dust, as well as the motor.
I'll keep you all posted, and if you have any ideas, please feel free to post them.

Wow, thanks for the link Addict, that helps a bunch. Now I don't have to make a bunch of mistakes and break stuff.
The only thing I would do different is the weight of the oil, 80 seems awfully dense for off-road racing, you want the shocks to absorb all the little bumps and ruts, not bounce all over the place, but we'll see.

I've not seens one rally car that takes the bumps well. They all have to set the suspension far too hard for the bumps in order to reduce grip roll. The cars are just too narrow. They also don't have much ride height which does not help. The ones I've seen have been running in quite high grip conditions though.
