What will break down the grease in the bearing for easy removal .

You remove the bearing shields. There is a little "C" clip that holds the sheld on, at the outer edge of the shield. Remove it with a hobby knife. The shields pop right off after that.

Spray the bearing out with motor spray, and then re-lube it with a bearing oil. I use Team1 bearing oils, Trinity and others also have bearing oil.

Now you can either replace the shields, or only the outside shield, or neither. I usually replace the outside shield, leaving the insides off, but still sealed by the carriers.

If you aren't racing, it is not worth it to degrease your bearings. If you hit the wall often, it's not worth it either.

I take one sheild of each bearing and use motor spray to degrease them then apply any bearing oil to lube them. Bolink, Trinity are a few companies who make bearing oil.
