R/C Tech LIVE from the 2003 ROAR Carpet Nationals
Hi all,
I'm happy to announce that we will have full coverage of this weekend's ROAR Carpet Nationals from Twin City Hobby & Raceway here in Brooklyn Park, MN.
I have the wireless internet set up and running from my pit area at the track (though it will probably be down while I'm wrenching on my car!)
I should have pics and results and whatever other information each day. Hopefully I will find the time to check in during the day for updates, both on the front page and on this thread.
As for right now, I just arrived here tonight, I'm sitting here in the hotel room nursing a terrible cold and wondering how I managed to not forget something important for a change.
In case you're unfamiliar with the race, this is THE premier sanctioning body-affiliated carpet race of the year. All of the top talent in the USA is here (the full entry list can be found on www.twincityhobby.com).
More later!

Shane, find Brian Lutz and tell him his cousin Jason said he better do better there than he did at the Snowbirds or I'm gonna have to disassociate him from our family name!!!!!
(BTW- we aren't really related that I know of...)
I finally met him in Orlando- really nice guy!! He said he was having trouble because he was used to rubber tires on carpet.
Have fun and get some Tylenol Cold and Sinus medicine. Dude, that stuff works!!!
Oh, and if you get the shakes, do like I did and have two "refreshments" before every round-

Yup, it is just me doing coverage. So you guys'll have to deal with my racing schedule as well.
I am sitting in the pits right now waiting for the last hour of open practice here so I can get one more run in. My car's been crap so far, I have literally never run foams on a touring sedan before so it's a whole new deal. I'm about .5 sec per lap off of the pace, which is no good. I need to work harder.
All of the factory guys are already here, and the track has been busy from 9:30 AM until now (just about 12 hours so far). The traction is ludicrously high, more than any race I've been at, more than the Snowbirds and Cleveland from what I'm told.
I have taken a few pics of the track, no cars yet though. I've really just been thrashing on my stuff all day long. I will try to post the pics up when I get back to the room tonight.
Thanks to spitfire for hooking me up with a sweet deal on a room!
More to come later...!

And if anybody is at the race, be sure to stop by and say hi! I am pitted directly behind the announcer's both, next to the windows. You can't miss me.
