Taping batteries

I bought some battery tape and was wondering, if I double over the tape on one end (so it doesn't stick to the labels) and let the other end of the tape just stick to itself, will that work?

Does that makes sense? I figure that the labels will rip off if I just leave the tape as it is, so if I bouble-back the tape, and let the other end just stick to the top of the tape, it should hold just fine. Yes?

Anyone else try this?

Make a little loop at the end of the tape so it can be easily taken off with out having to pick with your fingernails.

I know a loop will help with the initial take-off, but I'm more worried about the labels on the batteries being torn off.

Should I just forget about the labels?? Not really a problem.

shrink wrap the cells or put some packing tape over them.

Shrink wrap should be fine, transparnet tape also works.

Xenon sells strapping tape for batteries.
It's generally called fiber reinforced strapping tape and you can probably find them in any good hardware store or stationery shop.
I use cheaper stuff,from ACE hardware which is 1/3 the price of Xenon tape.

Velcro straps don't always work well, tape is better. . . . and lighter . . . .
