Default Any significant differences between $$$ peak charger and regular peak charger?

I have a Auto-cutoff, adjustable 1A-5A peak charger that is 10 years old. The charger has never let me down.
Just wondering if upgrading to ultra expensive charger will make any difference in the performance and speed? I am a serious racer who attends club races regularly. I am trying to avoid spending $$ on useless items though.

BTW, I only use NI-CD cells.

Probably not. As long as you ONLY use NiCads, your old charger should be OK. NiMH batteries use a much lower delta peak value and require a newer peak charger for them. In the mean time, welcome back...

That would probably not give you any extra speed, but getting something like a T35 will allow you to have alot of cool features, like lathe run, battery discharge...

My charger cost me $45 ten years ago(bought from HK)

It has 110/220V, DC, 1A to 5A charging, auto-cutoff, trickle charge, (SCE-SC-SCR)selectable charging, and (Hi, Lo) cut off.

It never fails.

A new charger may help keep your batteries to last longer, but I don't think it would give you more voltage. If you already have apower source, check out the tekin, BC112A?

I still will not go with them because they have no cut off threshold like the Millimum dose

Taz_S: Thats not entirely true. The BC112 has different charge profiles which basically is the Tekin version of differing delta peaks.

P0- 0.03v or less
P1- 0.03-0.04v
P2- 0.06-0.08v

To all intents and purposes the three profiles are quite adequate for charging NiCd and Nimh batteries.

How about "I wouldn't go with Tekin until they get back on track and can supply product and REPAIRS in a timely fashion...and can answer the phone." - sorry, but I'm just one of many unsatisfied Tekin customers...

Bottom line is a delta peak charger from 10 years ago will still sense the delta peak now.

Default integy 16x5

i've been eying that 16x5 also, i just started a tread on it to, i think the thing ie great, i've gotten good reviews on it for other message boards. a guy i race with has a 16x3pro2.5 and he loves it, hasn't had a problem. i just don't see how you can beat a fully programable charger, 20A discharger, 14A power supply all in one package for $230, the power supply is enough to run 2 16x5's at once, so i'm figuring a way to run a lathe off it as well. if you do go with the millenium the new one is the Pro, it has a built in pitwizard, but no 20A discharge + you're gonna need a DC power supply if you don't have one! the 16X5 does this VESC charge said to lower IR on cells and increase voltage (we'll see) it'll also cycle packs up to 9 time consecutivly. you can set delays after charge and discharge funtions to let packs cool.
