Finally got to run my 12rr last night. WOW! didn't make the first qualifier(technical difficulties) and in the second qualifier I had the motor slip away from the Spur. On the third qualifier I finally got some good lap times in. Roll out wasn't close till main came around. Started 6th and ended up 4th overall.

I'm running a 88 spur with a 38 pinion and got walked. Should I change to a 72 spur? The guys at Flowood are using them. I suppose I should go with the masses. Any suggestions?

Thanks again for one fine car! Everyone loved it.

Chad

Hey SwampDog32,

If you can give me the track dimensions I might be able to help. For starters, i would go to a 76 spur. Depending on your track size go to a 48 to a 51 pinion.

Hope this helps
Mike

Mike. Thanks for offering to help. The track I run on is about 70x36! The one I ran on last night was 80x36! Like I said the guys up there run 72 spurs and they were rocketing by. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Hi Chad, have you ever checked out this site?

Great place to figure out gear ratios and rollouts. If I remember correctly you have switched to brushless so like Mike said a 76 spur is a commonly used spur size by many using brushless.

Yeah Chris I just went brushless 1s lipo. I'm using Trinity DUO 2 13.5 and Fantom 5000mah lipo. Jaco Magenta tires (uncut).

You are under geared for sure, I'm running a rollout thats 20+ mm higher than you are. Are you using an esc like the SPX or Tekin with turbo/boost? If so those will also have an effect on the proper rollout.

Np depending on the actual tire size your currently rolling out around the mid 60's, baised on a 47.75mm tire size. for 1c 13.5 you need to be around a 90mm rollout as I dont believe the SP esc has the extra boost/turbo type feature that the LRP or Tekin has.

My batteries and stuff came in today and the new SMC packs with the bullet connectors fit great in the new DB12RR LiPo chassis!

Got an idea...what if we had a locator plate that bolts on through the shock mount holes to keep the battery from moving forward. With that we may be able to just use the o-ring to hold the battery in.

On Hobby Talk there is a pic of a DB12 where the seller modded the original 4-cell locator to act as a brace to keep the lipo from moving forward. But I still perfer to tape.

WIITA,
Front end is from IRS, some small amout of dremeling is required other than that, good quality front end fits and works well.
IRS front end is not better or worse than the AE style front end its just different, slightly more adjustability.
Car set up for high speed asphalt tracks in Australia, running 5.5T.

Only the lower arm and upper hinge pins are IRS, the rest is AE. It is essentially an AE front end upgraded with IRS parts. The only part you should need to dremel on the front is the upper arm mount so that the upper arm pivots freely. This can also be done by just sanding the mount. The only modification to the lower arm should be in using an 8-32nd tap to pre-thread the screw holes.
