InspGadgt - very very nice!

Is there some more detailed info on how one would go about doing that to their own car's wiring?

The heat shrink is only in 4" lengths, after triming the wire to length I really only used 3" of heat shrink but you will want to be longer to start with just to be sure. I got 8" lengths from Radio Shack.

Yup OD is the man when it comes to wiring. He sent pics a few pages back and I worked from those examples...or you can also look here:

The photos are not quite in order but I'm sure you can figure out the proper order.
Note: I've added step numbers and descriptions to the album

Do you think that stripping the wire and putting shrink wrap on it might present a problem with heat melting/scraping the wrap away?

It looks great but will it hold up?

If the battery gets that hot it will melt through it's own heat shrink long before it will melt through the heat shrink on the wire and you have a lot worse issue to worry about.

I think the wrapping on the cell is better/thicker than the rubber based shrink wrap.... I dunno the answer.....

I've been using double pink all around but if thats too much for your track try liac front and double pink in back.

Thats a great wire job Inspector, looks every bit as good as OD's work.

Oh BTW, I've used that technique on a number of cars that have been in service for a quite a long time and no one has had any problem with the shrink wrap melting or breaking down

We run indoor asphalt and use purples in front and yellows in the rear. This is a high bite track ( 99 x 47 ) and smooth as glass....
