The Silent Charger Platinum(referred to as the SC)is a state of the art microprocessor based
charger/discharger system for rechargeable batteries for R/C use.

Not having to drag around a power supply would be nice. :-)

I wonder if that 6A charge is for LiPo, too? In the past, it's been capped at 1A, making it a fairly useless feature.

Also, I wonder if the internal PS is similar to the power master mini? I bring my mini along to charge LiPo, but I find that if I try to charge them at 5A, the charger starts to misbehave and give voltage warnings, a problem that goes away entirely when I switch to my regular power master.

It doesn't have a built in power supply. And yes it will charge lipo's @ 6 amps.

Hmm...What's the AC input for?

My bad, I have an SC Charger, but not the one with the ac outlet. Mine is mure like the CTX. I didn't click the link to check the pics. Sorry!!!

This is the Platinum edition as opposed to the standard edition. I believe this version can accept 120v AC for input were as the standard edition only uses 12v DC for input.

Does anyone know of someplace in the US that actually has these in stock?

have a platinum edition silent charger. it doesn't have an A/C plug. i guess the unit mentioned in the thread is another version of the silent charger.

i think "Platinum Edition" refers to the reversed-color LCD they use (i.e. platinum edition silent chargr, ctx-d2, ctx and cell master)

That's correct the Silent Charger (12v) and the ACDC Silent Charger (mains supply) are two different products. The ACDC version RCFORUM posted is not released yet.

who has this charger?
do you need separate DC power supply or input only requires 120-240V AC? i'm confused coz pics says input 120-240V AC yet feature detail says Input Voltage 9-15V.

if input is 120-240V AC, how much current can it output max, say for charging 7.2V cell config (NiMH)

The charger has a built in power supply that will take mains AC voltage.

It ALSO has a socket so you can connect it to a normal 12V DC supply if you are in the field.

Looks like my REEDY QUASAR PRO! I think AE dropped the ball when they stopped developing that charger. AC/DC with 20amp dump... They had that little recall issue and then shelved them. I love that charger


ITs too bad that for the same money you can buy 2 ice chargers :) OR a CHECKPOINT and a Pyramid powersupply. And have more features :)

just bought this charger and testing it as of writing, but i can't seem to choose between number of cells? is there no need to choose the number of cells in the pack? is it safe to say that the charger will detect it automatically? i know the older much more chargers let you select the number of cells

also, tried to discharge receiver pack (5 x AAA cells) at 1.5A, and it beeps and says done right after a few seconds. is this normal? or should i lower the discharge current?
