Default alum tc3 outdrives help

ok guys, another dumb newbie question. i recently purchased a set of rear aluminum outdrives for my tc3 and they did not come with washers or the flat spot on the outdrives for the existing washers to fit on. i thought the flat spot was an essential part to make the differential work right? am i wrong?

You don't need the flat spot on the outdrives. Purchase the tc4 steel diff rings. They are not the d-rings.
