Default Novak Brushless temps

Since I've been running long runs with lipo I want to make sure I'm not getting too hot.
What is considered to be the highest safe temp for Novak brushless motors?
I have both sintered and resin rotors and I know the sintered can handle higher heat. I'm looking for the same safe limit for the ESC.

Hey kuzo, Novak GTB 4300. In 20 minute mains 129 degrees. That was on a very large 1/8th scale track. And I always come off at 130 to 140 and the speedo is around 90 to 100. I always gear to no more than 140 degrees.

Oh and my battery has come off at 106 once and I think it was from the 5.5.

It usually comes off around 96. 6000's.

Holy crap that was fast UN! Is the 4300 running sintered or resin?

Sintered,
I don't think I have every thermal ed the sintered rotor its the ESC that gets hot now, only in mod though.
5800 or slower thermal issue is gone. I just haven't had any issues sense the Sintered came out. Not one thermal sense I went all sintered. But I gear to a low temp. If you gear to the recommended temp of 160 to 170 you are getting close to shut down temps. I like to have a safe range in temp and there really isn't a loss in performance.

That's the info I was looking for. My ss5800 with resin never got above 150 this weekend. The others stayed 140 or below so I'm running fine.

Reading this thread brought me to this question:

Will dropping a tooth on a pinion and being conservative gearing result in lower motor AND esc temperatures? Or does a lower motor temperature result in esc getting hotter.

I'm asking because since I switched to lipo my esc has gone into thermal shut down a couple times.

Man that is such a tuff Q. What ESC.? There are so many variables.
Gearing to low and or gearing to high will cause an increase in temp. Its a matter of finding that sweet spot. 1 tooth higher can cause dramatic heat increase and 1 tooth lower will be less heat increase. It usually takes more than 1 tooth gearing down to cause the temp to sky rocket.
If your geared to low and on the throttle a lot, it would be the only thing I can think of on being geared to low causing it to thermal.
When I run 5.5 or faster with the sintered rotor I would thermal the ESC. And my battery would temp 106.
Also keep in mind running your ESC for those 10, 15, and 20 minute runs could be some of that. I don't think they were really designed for that kind of run time. Are you using a fan.?
Long run times require some charm as for gearing.

BJ4 with the 6.5 sintered comes off the track at 175 degrees after 10 minutes. It will be the same temp gearing from 17-21 tooth pinions, go figure. So I run what gets me better lap times. ESC with fan comes off at about 120, without it about 170. I suggest running a fan with anything over a 10.5 in 4 wheel, 8.5 in 2 wheel.

X-6 with 13.5 sintered, comes off the track at 156 degrees, ESC at about 110, no fan.

I am running platinum 4800 for batteries, while I can't tell you the temp on them, they are not hot.

The hottest I ever got a GTB speedo was 190 degrees at the heatsink, it still seems to work fine.

Supposedly the motor will thermal if it goes over 180, however since I put sintered rotors in the motors, they have never thermaled.
