Is BL taking the eXcitment out of MOD ?

I have been to many big races with 10 mod cars with brushed motors but i have been to many big races with mod cars with brushless motors in them. If you ran mod then you would understand why almost everyone runs them (i do prefer the sound of brushed motors but theres no reason to run them).

the Bl's are just as fast if not faster, I just think they are losing the crowd appeal.

I love BL motors, but I much prefer the sound of brushed, and agree that there's some connection between the sound and our perception of speed. To me, the BL motors without the internal fan sound like Dust Busters.
There's an aftermarket for ya. Internal fans for motors that don't have them, tuned to create different sounds.

Pretty funny there bxpitbull, and a Marine that doesn't like noise, what, the DI's wear silencers now?
so I guess youve never been to a big race with 10 mods with brushed motors at full song down the strait, makes the hair on your arms stand up.
Just like a BL, after a couple of beers, I also make that whooshing sound.
Around here in Seattle, stock and 13.5 are 2 separate classes, I run stock.
I dont have anything against BL, I just think that the lack of a good scream at full tilt is boring, maybe they can come up with a little tab that rubs on the spur and is tunable to sound fast would help.
But at the nats, the stock motors sounded faster.
Next time you go to a race, close your eyes and listen, can you tell if its stock brushed or mod BL.

Yes, brushed does make a bit more noise, it's the brushes against the comm...friction! Lack of touching parts, less friction, more speed...sounds like brushless wins again.
Good to see there are fellow insomniacs in the house.
Syndrome, what it do?!?
C-O, stop drinking and driving....you might trip over your lathe and spill your beer. I list my cars from smallest to largest. I bet my Micro RS4 will dust ANY of you cars off.....sissy!

Look familiar? It should. Check the price. Seems like you're paying for a sticker even when you aren't. You're the first guy I thought of when I saw it. Look around, there's more to be found.

Its different watching a national a-main race, just go back to a club race and you'll be able to hear all the noises of lexan bodies crunching each other.

Nope, way over my head.
But I sure as hell like the sound of speed!
I do have a couple of nitro's, 1/10 onroad and 1/8th buggy, but we dont run those at the indoor onroad tracks.
You ever go to a parking lot race in a shopping center? when the nitros run they draw the crowds, or the mods run, they also draw the crowds.
It's more the noise than the speed that makes it eXciting.
