Lipo-how do you know when.....

you have kill it buy over discharging it. What are the first signs?
Will it run like crap, take no charge?

I have just bought a Orion 4800 and I am still new to the RC hobby. Its been a great battery so far, so I was want to know the warning signs of a dying Lipo.

Cheers.

:mad::D

It may puff up when you charge it next time. You would probably also see a out of balace issue first. Just have a volt meter handy and don't run extra long.

Nice fear mongering. Any evidence to back that claim up?

With the Orion batteries, what do I need to buy to balance it. I already have a Supernova charger, and spending big bucks on another charger isnt an option, so is there any other way?
I see the balance port on it, what do I do the check each cells voltage?

Totally untrue with the Orion packs. Nice try with that line of BS. Got ANYTHING to back up your crap? :rolleyes:

Got a multimeter? If so, put the negative lead in the neg. port and positive lead in the balance port and check voltage. Then the positive lead in the pos. port and the negative lead in the balance port. Compare the numbers. You don't have to worry unless it is .02V or more difference. I use the Orion balancer. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXNNA5&P=7

Can anyone with a good 4800 Orion tell me what their full voltage readings are. Mine reads at 8.32v at full charge.

Should be 8.4V. I'm not familiar with your charger as I'm using both the Ice and Orion Advanced chargers. Both finish at 8.4. Is that charger fully lipo compatible (CC/CV charging) and are you letting the charge run to completion?

Balancing an Orion 4800 Lipo

Here's some good info on how to balance a 4800 pack. I've done it and it works great. The only money you need to spend is on a 2mm bullet connector and a way to connect it to your charge leads. Good luck!

Yes it does have CC/CV and my charger says 8.4 but my mutimeter says 8.32, so who is telling the truth.........? And I do run till completion.
