Rubber tire help
Need help choosing the ideal tire for a non-permanent, asphalt track. temp is around 100 to 130 degrees F. traction is mid to lowish bite. the asphalt is old, abraisive and grainy. most racers like the RP30's...others prefer the sorex 32's. but i was looking into the HPI Advan27's. i figured a tire with a small tread pattern would offer better grip than a slick since the surface is so ruff. i ran foams there but i went thru a new pair of 35/45F's in three runs. not a big rubber tyre guy so i need a LOT of help. only rubber tire i ever ran were the yokomo 206m.(the best IMO) thanks all.

I would use some 30 or 32, HPI are good but racing tires are better.

i has used the advans with great success in 34 C track temp. the surface was a unprepared car park, very smooth with little grip. this was after trying many different slicks, take off, sorex etc. however, in i used them on a abbrasive surface and they got chewed up. it it seems the compound is very soft. give them a try.

ya! hard to find that balance between bite and durability. what compound advan did you use? 32, 27, or carpet? these 24 mil tires kinda confuse me. when i ran rubber asphalt on a regular basis....i used 21 mil

That would be a good question for the Rubber tires for dummies thread http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthread.php?t=59268
