Well guys I am interested in possibly getting back into TCs. I have been out of it since having my HPI Pro 4 a few years back. Since then a barrage of new cars have come out. I am looking for something that has the following characteristics:

1. Doesnt need a ton of hopups to work on asphalt with rubber tires.
2. Easy to adjust, maintain, clean, and fix (I know I will be doing damage) and dont want to spend hours just getting to the problem that i need to fix.
3. Belt Drive

I have read about the Losi Type R, Schumacher Mi3, the AE FTTC5 and the XRay T2. Been leaning towards a Mi3 but any help and suggestions would be nice.

I am not a great racer but I am good enough to get around the track without causing too much damage to my car (and other people's car).

Asking racers what you should get is a little crazy. If 100 people answer, your gonna get 500 suggestions. But, the best way I can think of is what car is used most in your area? Which one does your hobby store have parts in stock for? This way, if you do break something you'll be able to get it going again with a minimum of trouble. You'll also be able to bum parts easier when the shop is out of stuff too.

that is a very hard question to help you with, you are going to need some time,all those cars you are looking at are great,but you had a pro4 which is a good car and there is the cyclone which i say is the pro4 brother another good car which some of the parts from the pro4 works back at the end of it all its your personal peference.

Sorry guys. I understand that this is a hard question and ultimately it will come down to what the hobby shop carries.

Which TCs are designed out of the box to be for asphalt or the easiest to be used for both? I do not want to buy a car and then put down another $100.00 for an asphalt chassis and top deck.

Also if I had to reorder my necessary criteria, I would put the ease of maintenance, adjustments, cleaning, and fixing as number 1.

Most cars unless they say "Carpet Edition" are meant for rubber tire / asphalt out of the box. Its not on your list but I would recommend a Tamiya TA05 if you can get local support. Its doesnt require fixing often as it rarely breaks. The easiest car Ive seen to work on is the Cyclone.

i would say the mi3 because untra easy to work on 2 screws and the diss out 8 screws and the chassies off and u dont have to buy a single thing to be dialed on assfalt even the base set up works really goood hands down mi3

I know this car was not on your list, but you can purchase a used Tamiya 415MSX (at a very reasonable price), not the MRE or the newer MSXX. The car was designed for asphalt / rubber racing. For hop-ups, you will only need 3 - suspension mounts A, Bx, B (probably will come with the used car you purchase). These cars are very easy to work on, and very adjustable. You can probably find one for under $200.00, and you will have a very competitive on-road car at a very in-expensive price. With the money you save you can invest in better electronics and more tires.

If your LHS does support for Tamiya then go grab yourself a TA05R. Works flawlessly on Asphalt even for a beginner like myself. The only hopups I upgraded was the Carbon Damper Stay F & R, Aluminum Steering Set and Front One-Way.
