Rubber sealed bearings are a type of bearing, and Acer bearings are a brand. Why are you buying new bearings, performance upgrade or replacement? Here's some helpful info on bearings.

Rubber sealed: Best used in dirty enviroments because they do a good job of sealing the bearing. It will add some friction however.

Metal shielded bearings: The standard. Good for anything but offroad or very dirty parking lots, etc. Less friction than rubber sealed but more prone to dirt damage.

Teflon shielded: The best in my opinion. Seals well, but with little friction. If you can afford teflon shielded bearings go for it.

Hope this helps.

You're not comparing like with like there. Shields and seals are not the same thing. A rubber shielded bearing will have just the same friction as one sealed with teflon as the shield does not touch the inner part of the cage like a seal.

Davioh, the Acer ceramic bearings are excellent, I've been running them for a couple of weeks after having removed one seal and flushing all the grease out of them. The run extremely freely and are still as smooth as ever because of the hardness of the balls. They don't come cheap though...

Davioh, RPM makes a bearing blaster for 8 bucks... and it comes in a variety of colors. Other than that... you need a good can of motor spray... and a light synthetic oil to relube the bearings. Of course... there are all kindsa thoughts on the best lube to use. Just depends on who you talk too. The whole idea is to remove the thick standard grease found in most sealed bearings... and replace it with a long lasting durable oil of less viscosity. Many will remove the seals on one side of the bearing to do this... but it can be tedious and damaging to the race (cage) of the bearing if you arent careful. The RPM bearing blaster is a simple tool and lets you do this without all the added fuss and muss. The reward? A smooooth and seemingly friction free driveline!
