Maybe if the car with the Novak doesn't have a battery in it.

OUCH!!
I know of at least one person that ran both and didn't think so, they sold it in less then 2 weeks. Could be he didn't find that magical combination...but BL isn't suppose to be that hard. There should be optimum gearing and timing recomendations that make it dialed out of the box...not some tweak and try situation...IMO.

I geared my orion 10.5 where all the novak guys geared theres (5.2-5.0), and it was good, but when you go to 4.5, ohhhh she goes! And it doesnt run warm (135f after 5 mins) So I could gear it up more if I wanted, but I like it now

But its funny to read there posts

Orion's (& Feigao) "spec" motors are a big joke to me until someone proves otherwise. I've got two of their wimpy 13.5's I wouldn't run against Novak 17.5's. Lets see how things go at Novak.

I will agree there 13.5 is pretty much a joke, but there 10.5 is nice, I have driven my buddys car with the same set up, same car, same gearing, but he runs a GTB, and novak 10.5 and I just dont like the feel of that system, I can drive the orion much better, and easier... Im sure with practice with the motor I would be fine, but so far I like my orion... But stock is all novak if you ask me!

Are they the new ones like these:

These stomp the old ones that looked like LRP motors with air holes in them.

We have done a lot of testing and they are very stout. That said the testing was done with Speed Passion GT speedos that had adjustable timing...and these motors like timing advance...around 18.75* at the speedo.

i think that a 10.5 you should now be able to adjust the timing.just to keep it fair.
and you do have to go up gear to get it to run as fast as a novak in 1/12.
and a 13.5 is not a 27t not even close.17.5 is imo and others that have tested it out.

Is that a whole new vortex kind of line, or what did they do?

Its a completely different motor that they came up with after finding their last series of motors was not on par with LRP and Novak.

It is a sensored BL motor but it is far more simple in construction than anything else...very smart. No timing adjustment as the new SP speedo does it all electronically.

They have a full range of motors.

Check the Speed Passion thread. There are ton of pics in it as the stuff just landed in the US last week.

The Speed Control (Speed Passion Grand Turismo) is the really big deal. It pretty much blows everything else away.
