since the motors are sold without the sensor cables..
what's the advantage or disadvantage of running the motors with or without the sensor cables?

Well, perhaps the most important difference is that, with the cable, the motor will run; without it, it won't.

without the sensor cable you need to be using a sensorless esc, and if you use the sensor cable then you need to use a sensor based esc. some perform both some are specific.

I'll be running the LRP Sprere TC that I just got yesterday... and have the sensor cable when my motor arrives tommorrow.

unfortunately i lost one of the screws on the backside of the motor (think its a 2.5mm counterhead screw or similar), any hint where i could get a replacement?

You can always try the manufacturer or go to the hobby shop and see if they sell individual screws. As a last resort you can go to a supply house like www.mcmaster.com and buy a lot of them. Part# 91294A012 looks similiar to what you have described. Good Luck.

On the motorscrews you have to be careful. From the pictures I saw in an other forum the Novak motors are using inch thread screws. The LRP motors and most others are metric screws.

I ran the 10.5 vortex..over the weekend..being my first BL motor.. will definately not my last....

I know with brushed motors there are some advantage on using a motor cooler to cool the can before a race...

is there any advantage or disadvantage of doing the same with BL motors?

The motor coolers were much more useful for brushless when we were still running bonded rotors - with the sintered rotors...not so much.
With sintered, the temperature isn't as much of an issue and the power dropoff and brake fade towards the end of a run is much less. Unless you are approaching temperatures where the motor will temp-cut (motor temp cut is only a feature on Novak ESC's right now), it isn't really worth the bother to cool the motor before running.

The Vortex motors have the trick cooling fans built in, so they will run especially cool.

i would say LRP and Orion will be on RPM and Novak will be on Torque. it depends on your driving style as well.
