I don't think this is very deceptive:
I think they are doing a very good job of making this system fit a lot of needs.

This thing will run with a sensor harness and without a sensor harness, and do it automatically. Joe Blow won't won't even know or understand it and doesn't have to. I think Traxxas can be proud of that.

For what it is, if it sells for $200 then thats a good deal.

2 six cell packs?!! Weak, who does that in a 1/10 scale car? Nobody, but lots use 2 cell lipo and more will be using 3 cell. I betcha Traxxas covers the MT and large scale base soon enough.

For a long time the Mamba Max was the Mamba Maxx; they must have changed to prevent confusion or were forced to.

i think that traxxas is doing a good job with this new brushless system. i get people in the store all the time buying a rustler and then 2 days later buying a novak 3.5r. why? idk, you spend like 200 on the rustler, then another 250 or so on the brushless setup. this way its pushing the industry into a new revolution for brushless and lipo's. and now with almost everything going dsm, lipo, and brushless; it will cut down some of the cost for first time buyers into hobby grade rc's. everything is the initial investment.

A new Traxxas sedan with this in it would be funny as hell.

"My Traxxas went 100 mph" threads everywhere!

The Mamba Max was never called the Mamba Maxx. Period. But they ARE coming out with a new one that will fit E-Maxxes.

[QUOTE=Yub, yub, cmdr!]Alright. It is true that I am bashing it without seeing it on the market first.[quote]

In brief - your compaints are irrelevant and betray a high level of ignorance about the RC market.

Why are you touting the "Velineon" as a Race-Quality system? I assure you it was not made to be one.
Who? Where? Don't think Traxxas would make that claim. "Ready-to-Race" is a marketing gimmick, Traxxas know that they have no actual presence in RC racing.

The Velineon has a shortcoming as a product in that it is only rated to a max of 12.6 volts. It will not handle 2 6cell packs; the highest it will handle is 10 cells or 3S LiPo. This is not altogether bad, though,
Who would put twin stick packs in a 1/10th stadioum truck? It weights a ton. No truck on the market has ever been built to that spec. This truck is built for a single 7.2V stick or LiPo.

Handling Sensored or Sensorless both is a technology in MANY ESCs, not just Traxxas's. Ex: Mamba Max, Quark, MGM, etc... so many. It's nothing to boast about.
No, it isn't. It is just a sensible feature. Who was boasting?

Its price point, being more expensive than the Mamba Max (most stores proclaim it to be around $200 final street price, NOT MSRP), will do it no good either.
You haven't seen the street price yet. So what if it costs more than a Mamba Max, this system is designed to be included with RTR's, these RTRs will cost a lot less than a Mamba Max plus the brushed version of the RTR.

Why did Traxxas include a 3500 kV motor? Out of the box on 6 cells it only hits 30 mph, 5 more than my stock XL5 Stampede on 6 cells. TRAXXAS HERE IS BEING VERY DIRTY in advertising 65+ mph. THEY ARE OBTAINING THIS BY USING 11.1V LiPo and GEARING IT TO THE MOON. Sure, I could run my Titan 12T on high voltage LiPo, gear it to the moon, and pray my ESC won't fry, and I'll hit 65... They are deceptive.
Do you know for a fact it is a 3500KV motor? They call it a 3500, maybe it is, maybe it isn't. They have a big table which shows what you need to do to hit 70, hardly deceptive. KV is just revs per volt, not an indication of actual motor power.

If you think that crossing your fingers and hoping you don't burn up a brushed motor to reach slower speeds is a realistic "refutation" of Traxxas' decision to release a brushless system you really need to get a grip.

I have a bunch of magazine ads that prove otherwise.

Velineon 3500 Brushless Motor: 10-Turn, 3500kV

http://www.traxxas.com/products/acce...s_velineon.htm

That pretty much sums it up.

Sure doesn't look like a Novak to me. Looks more like a mamba with a cover.
