MO!!!! What's up man? Been a long time brother...How is everything?
The S500 won't be out for a while.... The S400 v.2 beta will be first.

Come on you know how that goes....suffice to say changes are planned and will more than likely make the car more LiPo friendly among other things...

as i was being told previously, serpent was having trouble with their parts supplier hence they were planning to stop S400 n come out with a S401 (???) but now as many S400 users have demanded serpent to continue the S400, so somehow now they manage to reproduce these parts for continuing support of S400 n most probably, the S401 isn't necessary anymore but, S400 will have some upgrades for improvements... LiPO friendly n more options/upgrade parts...

upgrades available so far:

S400 has been great cars especially those with gear diff option included, it's more consistent n more durable... the new alu steering hubs/knuckles/upright is great... 2,4,6,8 degree alu c-hubs r very very much improve precision feedback... aramith belts, simply dismiss most of the headache for mod racers... many more lightweight options from serpent but those r not necessary, but it'll help reducing the weight of the car (S400 ain't light out of the box at all)... short carbon insert arms, improve response in short n tide course/track...

wished upgrades for S400:

i guess i would like to see 1 piece center shaft with spur holder being offer... well, after some time the spur holder does wobble in mine... i have no idea why that happens... maybe some hard coated light spring steel weight outdrives for front n rear also will be a great upgrade... stronger cvds please, maybe titanium unit will be nice, as long as stronger but not heavier than the ori steel unit...

santa please help us here too...

Mick -
Serpent has some setups on their site -www.serpent.com

Waiting on a Brushless (and for it to stop snowing on my days off) and then will be at the track dialing it in for carpet.

I did throw a 27T in it with stock setup and it felt really good like when you have the car 95% dialed in and you can just focus on driving instead of over-thinking things.

the new alu steering hubs/knuckles/upright is great... 2,4,6,8 degree alu c-hubs r very very much improve precision feedback... Ok someone better start pointing me to where I can get these!!!!

Two questions for you guys:
What effect does changing the diff oil to thinner or thicker have?
What effect does overdriving the front wheels have?
Thx,
G

I know this is not a selling thread, but just want to inform you S400 enthusiast that I have a brand new full bearing set for the S400 I'm not using because I'm driving another car. Looking for $25 shipped all over the world. PM me if interested. Thanx!

Default My s400's

I have two S400, set up to use lipos, One an orion 2400 and the other a track power 4900. I needed the Lipo plate and upper deck from the UK. with a bit of moding it worked amazing. I needed to make plate mounts. Where else to get mounts.. I was able to dremel old Serpent 720 nitro engine mounts to work (not the mono block).
Since I could not find the gear diffs, I was able to make 16 ball diffs, front and rear. I used Tamiya 35t pullies that supported 16 balls. I then used the Tamiya TRF501 offroad diff plate. These are larger diameter. Both have the Alloy body mounts front the Serpent 710/720.

I was planing on Anodising them Orange. However they quoted me $150 Canadian.. Forget it.

One of my s400's has the 2.0 ratio change. The other is stock, except the the lipo deck. I have one set up to run black can and 2400 orion for spec racing. The other is 2.0 with a new upper deck and lipo plate. This runs the 4900 track power and TRF415 blue CVD's, Also the carbon fibre arms.

I will add more pic later. This is a quick one of the orion set up.

Since the birth of my son I am only able to run one car.. Too may hobbies. I also play paintball so one of the Moded S400 are going up soon forsale or Trade. Trade for a TC5r for my other son. Since parts are hard to find in Canada this is my best option.
