Yeah I've heard that this car is durable and fun to run. I'm always down for "different" especially when it looks cool!

Let me know if anyone has one for sale.

Randy - two of the fastest guys running RCGT in the Norcal area at running TA05-IFS R's. They look cool as hell and they run pretty damn fast too. The last couple times out - me and Arluck are 1 lap faster than the "regular" 17.5 class and we do it with more "style."

Default performance difference?

A fellow racer suggested that my lap times (17.5 brushless) could improve if I used a body like the Protoform Mazda6 rather than the Tamiya NSX (IFS) body.

What bodies do you guys use for non-Tamiya club events?

I like the mazdaspd6. It's the best of both worlds.

Anyone mind to share a good indoor carpet setup for 17.5? I am converting my 05R to IFS-R and would like to see the different (in setup) especially now the front shocks are going FLAT...thanks.

Default Gear suggestions

Almost have my new IFS running. I've decided to not bother with the Stock 540 motor, and to put in my X-Star 27T motor. Because I haven't done anything R/C related in about 6 years, I am unsure how much faster this motor will be, and what pinion I should use.

Stock gearing is 70 tooth spur & 22 tooth Pinion. Will I be okay still with that or should I go 24 tooth?

I also have a 14T (Speed Gems 2). Any help or Gear ratio to motor chart available?

Are you using the IFS just for bashing..? If so...your 14T would be the fastest thing, then 27T and then the silver can...
But if you are racing....then you have to find out what class you are going to race in...27T is stock, raced again BRUSHLESS 17.5. Silver can = GT3 class if your club has one...14T is definitely MOD...

Since you are out for awhile, BRUSHED motor is going away...most ppl are running BRUSHLESS motor...stock like 17.5 and super stock like 13.5 are the biggest class...may be some 21.5 for USVTA class. So...ask around and find out what are the classes that you are racing in.

Last...for your 27T, you want your final gear around 7.5. Your IFS internal is 2.055 (if that is the same as IFS-R) and lets say you want to use your 70T spur, then you must have pinion like 17, 18 and 19...and 19T is probably the tallest that you want to go or your motor will get too hot....18T is a safe gear to try, if too slow, gear up 1 to 19T...

Alot of ppl using online gear chart like this one, fill in the blanks and print out the chart and use it at the track...

I believe the IFS is the same as the TA05 (not the same as the IFS-R) so my ratio would be 2.5 if I remember. Using that gearchart... what would my motor RPM be for the 27T ?

Anyone have any tips on how to remove the c-clips from the layshaft??? I need to replace the pulleys, but am having a tough time getting the c-clips off so I can change out the pulleys.

For once, I'm actually wishing there was an E-clip instead. hehe.

Just got the IFS-R. Is there a One-way and Spool for it? Also, what diff rings does it use. It's all different then my regular TA05.
