Tamiya TA05 IFS

What CF chassis will fit the IFS r? I'm trying to search for Kawada chassis but no luck. Will 05 ms chassis fit?

The 05MS chassis won't fit; it is narrower than the standard 05 chassis with no mounting holes for the front cross member, therefore you won't be able to mount the aluminum posts for the front shock brace.
I have a Kawada chassis. It has mounting pattern like the stock, but the length of the posts do not much. I had to custom grind a lot of plastic off the IFS front shock brace and use proper shins to make everything fit correctly. It took some work, but is doable. Too bad Kawada discontinued that chassis.
Your easiest bet would be a 3Racing IFS conversion kit. That's made specifically for IFS, so fitting would be easy. Bad thing is, I don't really like the 3Racing's product quality...
But for the chassis itself, 3Racing would be a good choice.
Best regards~

I didn't have to cut my regular TA-05, nor did the manual suggest I may have to. It's not mentioned in the regular IFS manual either. There's a different, bulkier servo saver included with the IFS-R. It uses metal bands instead of the plastic flex ring, and there's noticeably less slop, but you have to trim the tub to accommodate it.

I do that for drifting. Indeed, TCS races in parking lots doesn't need stiff chassis like this. And for indoor races, no matter how you convert your TA05, it's still heavier and less competitive than other high end cars. Doesn't mean that you can't go fast with a 05, just it's the fact that a chassis conversion still won't bring the TA05 to the 415 level.
However, because the 05 is a relatively heavy car, switching to kawada chassis did save me about 50g. And for drifting, that weight saving and extra stiffness is a noticeable plus.

As far as lipos hitting the pulley, yes they hit it...I ordered the chassis, installed, was impressed at how nice it looked then put my battery in and was angry!
Obviously there are some ways to make it work...I used the associated battery cups spaced out a bit but didn't like it...went back to the tamiya chassis
