There is a lightweight-carbon version of the Tub chassis, but there is no carbon-fiber plate chassis upgrade. Tamiya sells the TA05-MS for that. Of course none of the parts are compatible...

or you can be modify the 05 IFS to fit on a kawada CF chassis like i did...

that was a lot of sanding and grinding... but i think it's worth it...

Hi Guys, I've wanted to test the IFS for awhile now, And have finally ordered the IFS R, I'm considering the 3racing CF Chassis upgrade, Is it worth it ?

If someone has already done this conversion could you please post some pictures.

don't get the 3racing conversion, you wont be able to use some of the tamiya parts for the IFS in case something breaks.

What Tamiya hop-ups for the IFS R would you recommend ?

i'm ok with what the R comes with, i mean it's plenty and has the most important upgrades (universals, trf dampers, etc). but if you're really itching to buy something for your ifs r, then i would recommend the alum. steering assembly and rocker arms.. or at least replace the metal bushings on those things.


just stay away fromthe conversion. my friend bought it for his TA05, and it has prevented him from using the tamiya center one-way for the TA05.

My IFS-R I added the front and centre one way Titanium Screw Set, Alloy Steering and Rocker Arms and CF Battery Strap. I'd also recommend changing out the soft Aluminium turnbuckles for Titanium especially on the rocker arm to suspension arm linkage.

There other upgrades you can do, Alloy bulkheads, CF shock tower (rear) etc but I manage to get mine in the top 3 in stock locally and I have been out of racing for over a year, and it's been running up against T2-008's etc so no doubt the car is already competitive as is.

yep, the IFS R is already competitive as it is. enough to take it with the more expensive T2008s and 416s. definitely a good value.

any1 have a suggestion on the servo saver u use for this car. the stock tamiya 1s have always been beat. so thoughts. a standard kimbrough doesnt seem long enuff and the steering could bind at the extreme lefthand throw.

I'm using a medium Kimbrough, the black one without holes. There is actually a marking for a hole that is further than the predrilled one.

There's a chance this has been answered earlier, but I'll ask anyways. I bought the Yeah Racing aluminum steering knuckles (the thing the axle goes through on the front) and the kit axles are too short to be used with them (the hole for the pin doesn't clear the bearing on the outside). If I buy the universals, are the axles longer on those?
