Futureal,

What inserts are you running front and rear? Plus what rims, if that matters?

What is your setup for the rubber tires (for carpet of course)? I am running foams still, but I am dying to try some Sorex's and I know I have to change my setup.

Thanks in advance.

shane...the 28, 24 was what i ran last night...they were just as fast as pit 20, 24...when running stock you can have too soft of a tire....that is why i tryed the stiffer....also, sorex 20 wares out in a couple weeks.....not as durable as pit 20..in my opinon....also, the losi has so muck tracktion, it will bog the car down in the corner....that is why...

losi: I see your point on the wear thing, the Sorex 20s seem to noticeably wear in the rear after about 7 or 8 heats. Maybe I will try the Pits out and see if they are any better. I had good luck last year with 25/20s (just like everybody else) but who knows on these new compounds.

Ty: I was running Sorex 24/20 front/rear with HPI red inserts on HPI R5 wheels.

I don't have a Yokomo set up handy but my XXX-S setup is pretty close to stock.

Front:

Blue springs
shocks 2nd from inside
camber link 2nd longest
droop 2
4 degrees caster
0 degree kick-up

Rear:

Silver springs
camber link in longest position
droop 4
1 degree toe-in each side (2 degrees total)
2 degree anti-squat

I would run low-roll-center blocks if you have them. My biggest problem with the car is too much body roll when cornering.

acloco-Yeah, I tried the Sorex 20/24 combo. It didn't have the same amount of steering as the Pit 24's.

I don't run the HPI insert because I have heard from more than one repitable factory driver that they break down very fast when Paragon is used on the tire. Echo inserts are much more consistent and hold their firmness longer.

Sounds like they're both a great tire and it all comes down to what you as a driver feel comfortable with, this is starting to turn into a "which is better Car X or Car Y" thread.

what, if any, is the diameter difference. seems like the old pits are fairly meaty. i know the take offs are about 2.48 in in diameter +/- a few depending on wheel and insert. but given the same wheel/insert, as i'm sure you fellas held those variables constant during your testing, what is the difference? any? if not, what is the nominal dia with the inserts you are using? thanks.

futureal- Matt and the rest of us Losi driver's went with the sorex 28/24 combo because the traction started to come up and the 24/20 combo was now soft.

Does anyone know what the R stands for on the new bags of pits ?

Who was the engineer to make the compound for Pits tires ?

The Japan TC Nationals Masami Won on what tires ?

The Maylasia TC Nationals Masami Won on what tires ?

The Yatabe TC stock Nationals Masami Won on what tires ?

The NORRCA World Championships Atushi Hara won Yokijiro and David Jun top three drivers used what tires ?

BONUS trick question. Paul Lemuiex won the 2001 on-road National championship on what tire ?

This can go on and on and on, Glad it doesnt. I am tired.
This is for fun guys, not to boost Sorex tires. They are prooven and everybody has there own opinion.

If you get all question right you win a set of Sorex tires, rims, stickers and inserts.

No matter what tire you run, if they suit your driving, they will be consider best tire, no matter what make it is.

Thanks for the fun. email me at [email protected] to see if you won. The answer will be posted on Friday night.

Thumbs up

Has anybody tried Sorex inserts ?
They make a medium and a firm insert. NEW firm insert will be out today.
Just received the new firm Sorex inserts.

Sorex makes A and B type insert, the differance is the A type is thicker than B type. So you can use the same compound insert and be able to play with air gap in tire.

The med works very good on carpet and cooler weather asphalt. The Firm have been tested on asphalt Hot weather only and the are very good also. The firm have not been tested on carpet at this time.
Next week they will be tested on carpet.

Echos will eliminate the "air gap".
