48 pitch is more durable. 64 is smoother. You can run either, but I personally would run 64 when your racing.

I also prefer 64 pitch but you have to be carful when meshing because there is not much room for error with them.

64p if you are willing to spend $70 on pinions. 48p if you only want to spend $20 on pinions.

khoff, $5/pinion is the cheapest I've seen 64p at, and even that price isn't easy to find. What's your source?

Personally, I started with Robinson Racing set of evens 48p. I'm slowly switching to 64p, as I find used ones at $2/pinion.

I find my 48 pitch pinions noisy, specially when using smaller teeth #. while 64pitch are very silent and smooth. I still go for 48p theyre durable.

64 pitch for carpet and asphalt racing, 48 pitch for offroad / dirt.
