Default How much weight added to balance Ur TRF415

I am running a lipo battery in my Tamiya TRF-415MSX. But just cant seem to get it to balance. So I was wondering how much weight did you added and where did you guys place them. Pics would be great.

i have good news...and i have bad news...ok wait i dont have good news.

here's the bad news:

my electronics that i ran last weekend at the tamiya fun race were:
- personal transponder
- ko propo low profile 2413 servo w/servo saver
- ko propo helios receiver
- novak 10.5 brushless

total weight was 340 grams. (+ 1-2 grams for my servo holders and spacers i used to move the servo forward

my Team Orion/Peak 3200 Carbon lipo ONLY WEIGHS 195 grams! lets round that down to 190... and there's a 150 gram difference that you need to add.

lead weights come in 7grams per piece. so i ended up adding approx. 21 pieces of lead weight.

when i find some time i'll weigh my normal electronics set up of:
- ko propo VFS-1 w/cap
- heatsink + fan for the motor
- other electronics mentioned above.

btw, this was on my MRE.

no. you have two choices:

hack up the bulkhead.
hack up the battery.

i hacked up the battery! took a dremel with a sanding drum, and marked a spot where MRE battery hits.

im sure Orion/Peak will recommend against this, but i know my lipos will probably outlast my MRE. so having a hacked up bulkhead will make it harder to sell in the future.

I dont have any pics with me...the battery I am running is a hack up Maxamp 6000mah pack. I seperated it into two 3200mah pack. It weights ~130gram. I am finding out that I need about 170g...thats a lot of lead weights. It did make sense at the time, but after reading one of the above post...it seems to be right.

And he is too cheap to buy the correct bulkhead.

I do not have to hack up either my orion 3200 lipo or my MSX. The battery fits in fine you just have to insert it in a certain way.

Please show me how... I just get 2 3200 carbon packs (I also have 2 4800 that for sure don't fit there) but I got little dissapointed when i tried it... I manage to put it there, but impossible to take it off.... besides, it stays a little bit to the front (it touches the bulkhead close to the spur axle), and don't line up with the battery slots...
pictures would be nice...

or, do I need to buy just one "special" bulkhead?? which part number? Or do i need to spend 18000 yen on the MSXX stick pack kit?? I still want to use my

thanks!!

On a msx you can snap it in if you hook the raised edge of the battery under the bumps on the rear bulkhead that go between the cells on a side by side pack and press down. The 3200 will still be in tight contact with the bulkhead once it's in. And this may leave a mark on the pack.

Using the the bulkhead and upper deck from the stick pack chassis set with the stock lower deck works best for me. My Evo IV balances much better though - 10g vs 170g of lead.

I find that all my shaft drive car are a lot easier to balance. They only require very little weight. I guess since the motor is more in line with car...most of the weight is closer to center.
