Novak SS5800 Kit Overheating

I have a SS5800 and today the car just stopped working after 10 minutes. I went to check the temps and the motor was 135F (has a heat sink) and the ESC was 205F  Can you install a fan on the super sport esc or does it only work with the gtb esc?

Cheers

According to the foot print specs the Novak fan will fit. If the threaded heat sink is on it. If not may have to modify the way you mount it.
Also it may be necessary to only run about 5 or 6 minutes at a time even with a fan.
The 5800 is a mild mod and the sintered rotor is probably hiding the fact it could be over geared as well. With out the sintered rotor the motor would most likely have thermal'ed before the ESC. So check your gearing.
205 is pretty high. And if its running to long and over geared the fan may be useless. Or is it even a sintered rotor?

Is this it?

if it is for frifting, which relation are you used?? I would say you should be far over 8.... around 9 - 9.5... and yes, you can mount a fan on it, no problem.

cheers,

cheers,

That made no sense :weird:

Sorry, just realised that I put this in the onroad section. The motor is acutally in a 1/10 buggy. I was using a 17t pinion, 72t spur but after reading the manual it says that I should run a 9.00:1 ratio with offroad buggies so i am now running a 20t pinion 72t spur which makes 9.00:1

Cheers

s(f)orry, I mean drifffffffting.... not friffting... :D :D :D

anyway, if you increase your pinion, you are making things worse.... get back to your 17t... anyway, 10 minutes is a lot of time for electric on-road, don't know about off-road...
