HB Cyclone normal vs T2R
 

Hi guys!

For $270 I can get an HB Cyclone graphite (but nonspecial) with two ball diffs and a one way. For $200 I can get a T2R.

Which will be more competitive design? And I am correct in that carpet is best with two ball diffs right?

Which is more worth it in the end?

Where can you gat a T2R for $200? Stormer hobbies has the Cyclone for $249. I have a Cyclone and like it, except for local parts availability. I don't know how thw two compare, but I do know I like the Cyclone a lot more than the TC4.

I've beat full blown cyclones with my T2R, so.....

The TC4 is what we would call a POS. Don't consider it. If your talking about a non econo cyclone vs he T2R I would suggest the cyclone because of the bling factor for only another $50, it's a great car. It also has issues, I'm not fond of HPI (or hot bodies) products anymore myself, it doesn't seem optimal on carpet for one, and some of the bulkheads are a little thin for my liking (I've seen them bend on other people's cars..) Plus you need to spend another 20-50 in toe blocks to adjust the front and rear of the car, XRAY just requires 6.00 in shims..

If your racing on really high bite though you will need another $50 in parts to keep the T2R competetive though, so if money is your issue in the end that is something to consider.

If your cheap, playing around, and kind of suck ... T2R ... if you got money and want to be super competetive I say Cyclone (OR) buck up and buy the T2'007.

If I was a flaming homosexual like EddieO however I would suggest you go out and buy a Losi JRX-S Type R....

What about a TA05R? How would that compare to these cars?

XRC had a direct comparison on these two cars. I just remember the HB doing better at the track using three different test drivers as far as laptimes and from reading thier comments it seemed that the HB was also easier to drive.

My t2r was a great investment. The only update I recommend is the aluminum steering knuckles and aluminum hexes. It is great on carpet and with the right set up can run with the expensive chassis on carpet and asphalt. I think it's great that a 200.00 car like the cyclone and t2r are available and can be tuned to compete with the 400.00 cars(which I think the prices are ridiculous for a club racer). If you intend on trying to beat the factory guys, then invest the small fortune in these cars, but you can't go wrong with the t2r and basic cyclone. Save the money for batteries, motors and tires. Don't forget plenty of practice!!!

That was the Cyclone S rather than the Black Cyclone. I can't imagine there being a better car for the money than the $249 Cyclone.

all the top cars are fast..just look at any big race a-main all those cars would be fast in the right drivers hands

Wait, so for carpet, that classifies as High-Bite and I need hopups for a T2R?

So on carpet with traction compound stock, which one would be better suited to a beginner driver who will be spending most of this summer racing?

It will be reasonable to expect a $20-$30 price increase on the T2R when/if it gets re-released before the summer; the XRAY line had an across-the-board price increase earlier this year.

Yub, yub, cmdr...do you plan to run foam or rubber tires? Both those cars are rubber-spec out of the box. Whether or not you will need/want a stiffer chassis really depends on the track. If bite is low or if the track has a casual atmosphere, then it might not be worth it to install another $100 of carpet-spec parts.
Stormer's low prices on the cyclones as of late are pretty hard to pass up...not sure what their situation is, but that price is well below dealer cost.

we run cyclones at our asphalt track and they do real well im not sure how they are on carpet but I would definetly buy it over a t2r anyday, and you cant beat 250$, not to mention parts HB are cheaper than xray parts

the cyclone is a very good carpet car.it TQ'ed and won the snowbirds this year in stock

Jason's not telling the whole story. The Cyclone is made even better using one of his chassis.
