Default Best Bang for $ Comm Lathe

I am looking to get a comm lathe, but I am not sure which to get. I am looking to spend under $100, or atleast close to this area. What seems to be popular? Any info would really help.

thanks

Check ebay for the seller "integy" They had one for $65 (I bought the other one of course), has BB supports and comes with a bit to get started, you can add the diamond bit later......Just needs a slave motor, I stuck in an old mabuchi silver can 540 and will run it off my ice charger to keep the thing from spooling up to fast.

My Cobra with diamond bit has lasted me about 7 years now with no problems and has cut hundreds-thoursands of comms. I got it used to.

Take a look at the Orion Lathe, have had it for a year, very easy to use. Great Value.

Orion lathe is the best bang for the buck. Comes with slave motor and cuts great.

I just bought a Cobra Pro lathe with diamond bit and power base for 60 bucks here on Tech for a buddy of mine. First time I ever used one and it cuts great. You can get them used here on Tech for under 100 bucks with diamond bits.

You may want to think about spending about $60 more to get a really quaility lathe, I havent owned either of these but I hear the Orion Lathe as mentioned above is good http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXKBG4&P=7 , I would go with the Hudy Advanced comm lathe with Steel V guides https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...s&pn=HUD101001 Remember you do get what you pay for, I had a Integy Super lathe before and the Gibbs wore out really quickly and the lathe bit movements got sloppy almost unusable

As long as you know how to use your lathe and have a good diamond blade, that's all that matters. They all cut very similar, if you know how to set them up.

the best lathe on the market is the reedy lathe, good luck finding one. The reason is its made from real tool steal , so it heighty and the tallerents is perfit. the second is easyer to find its the twister lathe . do not just buy a new lathe , they are made of bad metal trust me on that. A good lathe is worth the wait just look around. I was sponserd by reedy and mike reedy made me one out of parts he had around the shop. wow it cut so good, before that i had a cobra what a piece . so where all this is gowing is i was looking all the time for a second one and i got one of rctech. they made them back in the day and some dudes still have them and they are finding them and selling them. remember reedy lathe and the twister lathe only
