Nice. I would love to see a serpent style 1/8th scale onroad car. I did think about buying a nitro version and trying to convert it over....I wonder if anyone has tried so far?
Thank you, the Serpent would be a good choice. Along with a 10XL brushless and 4-6s lipo. ( speed control of your choice-100amp minimum) It would scream! Don
There's a company called New Era Models where they have electric conversions for just about everything out there. They were at the WRAM show in February. They had a Serpent 1/8 on road converted to electric with a huge brushless motor and LiPo battery. He was telling me it could outrun a nitro powered 1/8 easily.
He also had an electric conversion for the HPI Baja 5B that was faster than the gas counterpart.

I know it's not a 1/8th tc, but I converted a Losi LST to elec, with the novak hv maxx system, and used a savage 3 speed tranny. I could run down revos with 14 cells. so an electric 1/8th tc is not a problem, in fact Charlie at Novak has done 1/8th buggies with good success, and now they have a 4.5 hvmaxx motor rated at 750watts, 1 hp!!
In the past I converted a MP-6 to brushless- it ran good with a 10L, but would have run better with a XL. I'd like to convert a 1/8 on road, but I have to many project cars as it is. ( not to mention cost) Yes, it's a AFI 15 with a 4T arm. I built the whole car. The front end is a modified AE RC300 ( cut to hold springs). The rear end is Mcallister. It runs pretty good. Don
jiml, I searched for New Era models but I didn't find anything. I know they have been around for years now but it looks like their site may be down. I would love to have a 1/10th or 1/8th scale Serpent conversion from them if they are available.
Schumacher had one on display at IHobby in Chicago.
We are putting a lot of effort into products for 1/8 scale and monster truck electric. Check out the new video of our Emaxx with the R1MT BL system in it on our website. Should be posted later today. Incredible! This system should push a 1/8 onroad with no problems.. other than broken parts due to the insane speeds and power.
Sorry for the plug, but it impressed even me and that is tough to do.

I think buying a Serpent 960, mounting the brushless system and run like 8 cells or 3 cells LIPO would be very simple to convert (for those that have the tools and skill)...however, I think the car will be extremely heavy for electric motor....
A better solution should be convert 1 of the CRC 1/10th or AE 1/10th...and make it wider and longer to fit into 1/8th scale Lola body......and some special wheel mount to fit those 1/8th foam tires and run it RWD(2WD)...
Most of the 1/8th track are prepped and traction should be high......and with the technology of brushless and LI-PO....I think it will be FASTER or at least par with the current 1/8th gas car....probably can run 10-15 minutes per pack too...

Not quite but close. If I can run the standard Lola 1/8th scale bodies on it along with the standard 1/8th scale foams I would give it a try. I am also starting to look at 1/10 scale 235mm nitro cars that I may be able to convert over to electric.
