As reference, the motor in the TTB set is a 2200kv motor.

ahh i see... i was warned not to go too high on kv when your using a 6s setup. but it seems i can afford more kv at this point as im maxed out on gear. Dont get me wrong, the car was fast, just not as fast as i have seen before... i went to timezone this year and one of the locals had his car out and man it was fast!!!! too fast.

For the record, my Buri 4S with a 15/56 gearing and Toro 1750 6 pole motor is on pace. So is my Capricorn TTB on 6S, and stock gearing. The difference is the Capricorn is brutal in acceleration, top speed about the same.

Last race day however, I think the speedy in the Buri (Skyrc 150A) thermalled.

So what gearing are you running on the capricorn? I ran a 57/24 gearing and temperature were in the 130 degrees range. So you think j should get a 2900kv or 2100kv. I don't want to start blowing up esc and motors as I've never ran anything on 6s.

Trev.......I'm running 2200kV Hobbywing on 6s, 27/61 gears in the R-8e, don't know what's in Tom's converted E-Mugen. I just blew up the Tekin RX8 ESC and am in no hurry to replace it ATM. Might look into having Tekin fix it.

I pulled the RX8 along with a 2650kV motor, (was running 4s) out of an E-GT8 and sold the roller so I could play with this E-IC car. With one more club race left at TimeZone, the E-Car will wait till next season.

Hmmmm, OK. I'll stick to 1900kv or 2000kv. I'm not looking to blow anything up . I already wasted $$$ on a 1600 kv motor...

No idea to be honest. But I think it is more important to count the poles. These motors need massive torque to accelerate twice the mass of a sedan TC (and how!) plus work against the downforce of those bodies. My motor is six pole, hence quite torquey and I decided on this very basis to go with this motor. I could have bought a higher wind in a four pole, but I wanted six and I couldn't find a 6 pole in a higher wind in stock anywhere around me, so I got the 1750.

That said, I think I might have over geared mine a tad (I think it thermalled last I run it), so you might get more speed by running a higher wind motor with a lower gearing, but then again, my driving isn't that great and the track is demanding in this respect. I guess a smoother driver could get away with my gearing. I'll back off the gearing a tad and see how it goes.

I've ran my Buri Racer E1 the whole season and I really don't like the way it has to be driven to be fast... I am very interested about a 1/8 pan car, more like the YoDog design... Where are you with this project dude? Is there something commercial in your planning?

I'm also using Solidworks, I've already designed a touring car and some additional parts. I would be very interested to see how you designed the ball differential for this scale...

Thanks for asking,
I've just been tinkering with it a little. I most recently ran it around with a shorty 2S pack (transverse)at TimeZone but I think the 550 motor was abusing it a little so unless I buy a better pack, I may just stick to a full size pack. I think the car has promise but I don't have much time to work on it as of late. (need a big track to test on) Travis gave me some fresher tires to try but I will have to wait till a race at Greater LA matches my schedule.
The ball diff held up just fine so far, running a 48p spur and pinion. (standard stuff) Since the car is so light, I haven't seen evidence of any slippage, especially with the shorty pack. The diff seems to be good.

Hi,

I am new here.
After a 10 year break, I am back to RC car. I drove almost all classes. I ordered and will get nex WE a 977e evo2. As I am not up to date regarding nowadays high end hardware, could you give me the perfect configuration to run this car/this class (Radio, servon speedo, motor, battery, charger, etc) according to you ?
Tks

Well, I am not sure, have you run 1/8 On-Road before ie. as the 1:8 IC (Nitro Class)?

Reason I ask, is that this car can handle up to 6S no problem, yet given your break, and or perhaps if you have never driven 1:8 IC 4WD would help determine the bet choices based on skill set. 6S is not the easiest to Learn / Master right from the start in such a chassis. (regardless of what many that just want to go fast may think). Its not a Dragster, its a Roadcourse Race Car!

For example you could start with a 1700KV setup on 4S (2ea. 2S Lipos), this will let you get the feel for the car. As for what type of gear, usually that is up to you, i.e. what you are most comfortable with. Futaba and Sanwa both make great radios. As for ESC I could not recomend anything other than the HW XR8 Plus, this is what I run, and its super reliable. Get a Tekin T8 1700KV motor, and some 2S (non shorty) 5200+ mAh Batteries from SMC(Hardcased), and perhaps then you can focus on your Radio and Servo Setup. Keep in mind, Tires and Bodies, which are both huge Tuning aids!

As for charger, check out Protek, they have great offerings at a great price, as does Hitec.

Also I would suggest continuing to post, but in this thread:

Thanks for answer, 1/8 IC Fan.
To be honest, no, I never ran 1:8 IC 4WD.
In an other hand I used to drive 1:8 nitro buggy, 200mm nitro, 1:10 235mm nitro (yep, it existed in Europe, from Serpent, 1:8 like), 1:10 offroad electric, etc. For most of them I was competiting in national championship (I am French). I started in... 1993. Continuous till 2009. Serpent and Mugen for the nitro ones.
I was a Futaba and KO fan. So I planned a 4PX. Il will see for the rest.
I got your message : start soft to get used to it.
Tks again.
