Here is a couple of pix of my creation of MRX4.

I have been running Castle MMP with Tekin 1900kv and 6s with no problem and no heat issue in my MRX2.

i had the same problem with speed passion 960 Brushless convertion . bought a 2650 kv from Castle Creations, it wont fit the motor plate. anyone can tell if the leopard 4074 2200 kv will be a direct fit ?
it have 39.8mm of diameter but unsure if it will work. someone told me that this motor plate is for motor between 36-39 mm

let me know your thoughts.

thanks

Default Kyosho Evolva

My converted Kyosho Evolva appears to need more top end. It is currently configured with a 4s A123 pack(13.2 volts), MMP sc, Novak 7.5 HV and is geared for a 6.48 FDR. Do I re-gear (5-5.5) or set the MMP for boost(which it currently isn't) or some combination of the 2? I know 4s isn't much-to that end I will eventually make a new chassis and include a 4s2p A123 pack. Thanks, Don

What KV motor are you running? I had a lot of heat issues when I was running 2650KV but when I went down to 1900kv their was no more problem.

I am running the 2650kv with the mmp on 4s. I ordered a custom build from neu motors for my other p81 to run on 6s.

That your problem you are running too high of a KV. Lower your KV and gear up and you will get the same speed but less stress and heat on your ESC.

Can we use two speeds transmission and a lower kv motor to prevent heat just like the following video : youtube.com/watch?v=j2cwSbzcXcY

Think 6S is the way to go with this kind of cars!

I'm running the Motnoica P81 Electron with some minor options like adjustable rear swingbar.
I like this car, good quality and durability only "problem" is to get spare parts quickly.
No heat issue on either ESC or motor, top speed should be around 100-110 km/h.
For next season I have added 2x 30mm fan to keep the motor even cooler but this is really not needed.

Current config
ESC: Tekin RX8
Motor: Tekin T8 2050kv
Battery: (6S) 2x Orion 3S 45C 3800mah
Gearing: 18T/45T 5.80 FDR

+ YouTube Video

Grand Turismo body from Motonica, will fit any nitro or electric 1/8th on road (1/8th, not IGT). More pics here:

I am working on a 2 speed setup this winter. The problem is you won't have any brakes because of the one way bearing in the 2speed setup.the nitro rear brake setup is in the way of all the electric motors. So I'll get it worked out and post pics and parts list with write up.

Don't forget when you run a 2 speed you will need to add another servo for braking and have a radio the has the capability for third channel mixing for the esc and braking servo.

I have try it on a GTP 1/8 scale and the 2 speed lap time car was slower than the single speed GTP.
